I'm sorry to rate this anything but a 5 star for it's first review, but I need to be honest with what the outcome was. Firstly there is a minor error in the recipe directions.....it says in point 2 to cream the flour and sugar together. I realized quickly that this was suppose to be butter not flour, but an in-experienced baker may be confused by that.
Also - I didn't think the idea of scoring the square, cooking it, and then breaking it apart mattered too much. After the first batch, I ended up cutting the dough into rectangles and cooked them separately, this worked much better - although the prep time is still long.
The taste in the end was ok, not thrilling for me though. It was almost like it was trying to be a shortbread, but just wasn't quite there yet. I put a mango glaze over the top of these, which added a nice touch to them. Thanks for the recipe Dutchgirl!
