About this Cook
Well I am an American chick living in New Zealand! I met the man of my dreams and moved over to NZ. We both like cooking which is good, so neither of us have to cook everyday! I've always enjoyed baking, ever since I was a little girl. I grew up in a family of 10, and always liked baking for them...i'm pretty sure they enjoyed being on the receiving end of that deal! It is a lot harder to get pre-made baking helpers over here in the grocery store....such as pie crusts, cookie dough, pudding etc. It's also really expensive to buy Betty Crocker boxed cake mix & frosting! SO lately i've really been into making EVERYTHING from scratch & I love it! It's so much cheaper, heathlier and it's enjoyable as well.
My favorite things to cook
Sweet stuff: Cupcake's, cakes & cookies. Savory stuff: Appetizers, Mexican, Italian, Chinese.........ummm anything that tastes good! Also - things from scratch like homemade butter and tortilla shells.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No-Bake Chocolate & Peanut Butter cookies. No doubt. They are almost a family tradition, and always disappear in no time!
My cooking triumphs
Well I grew up in a family that used pretty much packet everything, or canned. When I moved to New Zealand, I grew a passion for making things from scratch. In turn, it's way healthier for you and pretty rewarding (and a challenge, which I enjoy!!).
My cooking tragedies
Killing a microwave making popcorn, and always burning myself!! and more recently....accidentally "baking" my cupcakes on the grill setting by accident. And it was for a last minute cupcake order - NOT good!

Glazed Lemon Bread
I was surprised at how this bread only had a very slight lemon taste (because of the lemon syrup at the end). To get the lemon flavor I was going for, I had to add another two lemons worth of juice with sugar to make a glaze. The texture is also very dense, which I suppose a bread would be - I was hoping for a lighter texture. I would make this again, but add two lemons worth of juice to the batter & then do another lemon glaze on top as well. Thanks for the recipe!

White Bread For The Bread Machine
Good basic bread recipe! It didn't blow my mind, but definitely a stable recipe. Thanks so much for sharing!

Fluffy and Delicious Pancakes
Delicious pancakes - nice and fluffy. My critiques are: There is too much vinegar in the recipe, and slightly too much salt. I did try the recipe with the amounts of vanilla and cinnamon recommended & they were really good. I added more milk because the hubs and I wanted a thinner pancake. I think next time I'll try these plain, without the cinnamon and vanilla (and my adjustments above). Thank you for the recipe!
