Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
What a treat! We loved this recipe, the sauce really made it for us. My four year old ate two servings! Next time I will drain the grease from the broth before I add the flour. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Perfect Sunday night dinner.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
My family really enjoyed this dish, it was a lot of work but I enlisted the assistance of my husband and it wasn't too bad. We did make sure the chicken was well seasoned and used low fat cheeses, next time I will use whole wheat noodles. We also added extra spinach. I can see this being a very versitle dish, I want to try it with shrimp and asparagus next. Our toddlers cleaned thier plates. Served it with Mama D's Italian Bread and salad with Creamy Italian Dressing II; both from this site.

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Loved this bread. The outside was crispy, inside soft and chewy - oh so good. Don't be afraid to kneed in more flour, I used an extra 2 cups to get the correct consistency. This should not be sticky, it should be a nice smooth dough. I also cooked with a pan of water in the bottom of the oven.

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
This was so simple and so good. My kids just loved it. I didn't have tomato sauce so I used a can of pasta sauce. We actually liked the added flavor. Served it with Mama D's Italian Bread from this site. Yum!

Quick Cassoulet

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
We really liked this simple meal and I cannot wait to try it camping as bestrachan suggested. I bet it would be even better over a fire. I served it with a green salad and bread I toasted with butter and garlic. A keeper for sure.

Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
Great, simple side dish. The only changes I made were using grill seasoning instead of salt and pepper and grape tomatoes because larger tomatoes are not very tasty this time of year. I served it as a side with a Mexican casserole.

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
These were great! I love that this recipe uses dried beans. Instead of cooking these in the oven, we put them in the smoker with some ribs for about 5 hours. They came out tender and full of flavor.

Creamy Italian Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
This is a great dressing. I did add a little milk to thin it out a bit and lite mayo made with olive oil, other than that I made as posted. I really like the lemon juice. My kids both cleaned their salad plates with this dressing and like to snack on veggies dipped in this.

Original Homemade Italian Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
My family loves this Italian beef. I follow the recipe as originally posted and do not find the seasoning to be overwhelming, just the opposite - perfect. I did find that using a store brand seasoning pack was not as good as using a name brand but I'm sure the store brands vary. I just found the "generic" too salty and not as flavorful. I add all the juice from the peppers and it is not spicy to us, in fact my toddlers eat it. Then we just add the actual pepper to our sandwich for added heat. We just love this, it's a new staple in our house. Frugal ingredients and it makes enough for two dinners in our home. Leftovers are even better!

Brownie Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
These are amazing! I followed the recipe as posted and they were fabulous; toasted and tender – perfect for dunking into coffee. I love the taste, kind of like a cross between a brownie and fudge.

Holiday Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as written and I love it. The combination of pistachio’s, cranberries and orange not only tastes insanely good but it’s beautiful too. The texture was spot on for me, not the rock hard stuff you buy. This makes a great holiday gift but I’ll be enjoying it year round with hot tea.

Wow! This might be the best cookie I have ever made and/or eaten. I followed the recipe exactly and had just the right amount of dough and fudge. So good and so simple.

We really liked these and they were very simple to prepare. I did add a few more chilies but other than that followed the recipe as posted. I served with the Avocado Salad on this site. Outstanding combo.

Chocolate Crinkles II

So good, so simple! I followed the recipe as posted with the addition of ½ teaspoon espresso powder. The texture is amazing, crisp on the edges; soft and chewy in the center. I’ll make these again and again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I've been making this bread for about two years now and love it on it's own but have just discovered you can use this recipe for the Overnight Caramel Pecan Rolls from this site. I use half to make a fresh loaf of bread for dinner and turn the other half into the Overnight Caramel Pecan Rolls so the next morning we have fresh, warm pecan rolls. So good!

Sloppied Flank Steak Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
I tried this last night and it had great flavor. I did shred the meat and let it warm for about an hour before serving. The only other change I would make is taking the steak out, slicing it and then shredding. It was a little hard to eat but again, the flavor was very good.

Sour Cream Pork Chops

These chops came out really dry for me, I wish I would have checked them sooner. They must have over cooked. We did like the sauce though. It wasn't super thick but it was flavorful.
