Quinoa Porridge with Cinnamon Apples

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
This was my first quinoa attempt and it was lovely! Nice texture, just enough sweetness. New breakfast for variety. Next time I will try an asian version adding pears and ginger ;)

Roasted Eggplant and Garlic Hummus

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
I agree with some of the others that it doesn't have much flavour as is. I am on weight watchers and everything I eat has to be very flavourful and satisfying. It has to be WORTH IT to eat it:) The only thing I found that added that POP of flavour (after adding oregano, lemon juice and a bit of feta) was roasted red peppers. Now it's delish!

Smoky Mac 'n Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
OMGoodness! Be prepared to lick the spoon and pot after and during this one! I used table cream (18%) and it didn't curdle. I only used 1/4 of the cheese called for as the smoked cheddar and the other 3/4 cheese asked for I used old cheddar. I used 1 can of fire roasted tomatoes because that's all I had. Next time I will try bacon in this and some fresh cut tomatoes sprinkled on top when serving:) Kids Looovved it!

Titaina

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
This is tasty, but I think it could be ramped up still. It needs to pop, and to get it there I will look at the reviews and try some other things like: roasted red peppers instead of regular peppers, green olives, red onions, etc. I'll let you know:)

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I am eating it as we speak (type). I don't know if I could put it into words...but I'll try. 1. With or without icing it's gooooood. 2. Substituted cream cheese foe sour cream in icing. 3. In btw fluffy cake and pound cake (aka Perfect!) 4. Even the batter tastes delectable (the kids and I liked the bowl clean:) Enjoyand thanks for sharing!

Deer Chop Hurry

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
This recipe has a disgusting odor and my kids prefered the deer meat fried with butter, salt and pepper better. In fact that very night we tried the deer meat fried bbq'd and roasted and everyone prefered the deer meat fried. The men thought it was ok.

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
De-lish! I roasted it uncovered and used fresh pressed garlic instead of powder. I was pressed for time, so I roasted at 375 for 1hr 30min, turned off and left it in for an hour and then turned it back on for 15min. It was perfect:)

Easy Mexican Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
This was easy and great...I had to make 3 batches since the kids couldn't get enough...I also added a bit of ovaltine for some nutrition and a slightly malty flavor.

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
YUUUmmmm! this had a deliciously rich flavor...next time I won't make gravy out of the juice since it was a little too strong or dilut the juice with stock/broth.(I used Starbucks coffee)

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
This was yummy! I added some veggies and broth and made a gravy out of the juice. The kids and hubbby loved it :) A little too salty for me...I will try to find a reduced sodium onion soup mix next time.

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
I made a gravy out of the remaining juice/sauce and the flavor was too strong. If there is a next time, I will not make a sauce/gravy out of the juice.

Butterscotch Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
I had tried these for years at parties and always forgot to get a recipe. They were great and everyone at work gobbled them up:) I even tried them with kelogg's Total cereal (that's all I had) and it was super! I also added more than the alloted 2cups of chips. Yeah baby! note: please rinse after consumption to reduce risk of getting a cavity :)

Cheese Blintzes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
What a cool idea! I left them full size and drizzled pureed fruit with vanilla syrup on top and they were to die for! Perfect blend of sweet and tart. Delicious breakfasts here we come :) Down side: a little dry and seams come apart while baking.

Vanilla Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
Good for kids, I prefer a little more spice though. I made tarts out of this and topped it off with cream cheese icing. Needless to say the kids gobbled them up and requested another batch.

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This was great! Easy too. As I always do with recipes, I altered this one by using 1/2 can crushed pineapple and 8 chicken thighs (cause that's what I had :) I cooked it in the slow cooker on high for 2-3hrs. Served with brown rice and broccoli. Kids loved it! Yum!

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2006
Ok...so I doctored it up (I find everyone has a little of their own flare to jazz it up) and I listened to some of the tips : I doubled the cheese, used chicken and veggie broth instead of just water (added a 1/4 cup white wine) and more veggies and presto! It's a yummy comfort food for those rainy days or cold winter nights :)

The tip for using tea towel to roll was perfect...saved $. I like mine spicy and added mayo and chili oil to taste(oriental section of supermarket) to the crab. EXCELLENT !! Wasabi and ginger on the side, please :) Thanks again!

Veggie Oven Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
This dish was alright, not the best. It was really easy, though. I used chicken legs instead of thighs. Maybe wine could be added for xtra flavour, since there wasn't much on it's own. The left over's didn't get eaten, so that tells you there's not much interest in the dish.

Pork Chop Suey

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2003
This recipe was great! The sauce thickened just right. I didn't use the sherry or water chestnuts (my sister doesn't like them) so it could have had a little more flavor with those. I used cut up pork chops instead of tenderloin and it was fine. This recipe went over great and I will be using it often. Thanks Sandee!
