About this Cook
I am a wife, mother of two girls and grandmother of four grandsons and a granddaughter. I lived most of my life in the hills of West Virginia....but have lived in Texas for close to twenty-five years
My favorite things to cook
I am a basic home cook. In recent years I have tried to lighten up my cooking, and stay as healthy as I can. A lot of time it is just me here and I don't cook big any more except on holidays.I still have a love for recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have memories of my Great-Grandmother making homemade noodles and hanging them from hangers all over the kitchen to dry before storing them to cook the next day. I also have memories of Mom making Easter Eggs, and my Sisters and I getting together to make cookies with our kids and having a ball.
My cooking triumphs
I made Mom's Applesauce Cakes which weighs 4 or 5 pounds, for Christmas Gifts. I once had a family dinner and over thirty people showed up. I had made lots of we had plenty for everyone.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to cook pizza in an electric skillet and burned it black on the bottom. We ate the top. I made some horrible beans in a crockpot once. I try to forget the tragdies.

Old Fashioned Chicken and Dumplings
I spent lot of time looking for a Dumpling Recipe that I remember Mom making. Hers were the fluffy ones...not the rolled out ones. I know she sometimes used baking mix from the store but I had none. These were delicious, tender and fluffy. Thanks for the recipe.
