My favorite things to cook
Bird's Custard!Wonderful Desserts, Great Salads, Roasted meats w all sorts of vegetables. Canning Pickles, tomato sauce & home grown fruit jams, Make crackers & home-made pasta occasionally. Ecperiment w my Dehydrator & Bake home-ground-grain -bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Trifle on special occasions, 3 Bowl Rum cake,Jam Tarts, Mincemeat pies, Onion Sauce w Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding shortbread & fresh fruit pies. We've added various fresh-ground-grain-bread to that list. Girls are mastering chocolate chip cookies at the moment.
My cooking triumphs
PASTRY: I've got it down and am experimenting with new types. Crackers & pasta turn out awesome when I do them.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to create lemon sorbet in hollowed out frozen lemons. I used little sugar & froze them. I don't know if I was winging it but they were ice-solid & useless, I didn't serve them. My great expectations were dashed to a crashing halt!

Drop Dead Delicious Tuna Salad
Similar to what I usually make in slightly differing proportions & I use bottled RealLemon juice when I want to be quick, but I add either diced apple(a fave-granny smith), a few chopped dried cranberries or chopped golden raisins for extra zing. Sometimes add a wee bit of diced red onion also, ADD ANYTHING THAT ADDS CRUNCH!

Bread and Butter Pickles II
Loved it! love the added cracked ice to the 3hr waiting period, keep all crisp and cold. Easier drainage, I also do the boiling in the microwave and it makes a quick job of it before jarring.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These are great. The white sugar addition makes for a crisp outside. I made, w one recipe 24 small 1 tsp sized cookies AND 6 x 4 3/4" diameter giant cookies like in the bookstores! The change I made was to sprinkle some terbanado/(or Demerrar)sugar on the tops of the large ones (it's much more granular) Great addition to dress up the tops.
