Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2012
We really liked this. Just minor changes like doubling the spices, replacing some mayo with sour cream, adding green onions, and omitting the olives. I had planned on cubing up the cheese but my husband felt the cheese shouldn't be added.

Awesome Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
Light tasting and versatile which I liked. I don't use italian dressing much so I don't know if my dressing fell short on flavor. I had no problems with it though. To my availability, I used genoa salami, red bell pepper, red onion, green onion, asiago cheese and pepperoncini. I'm very pleased with all the ingredients combined but will add the pepperoni, tomatoes next time...black olives? IDK. Also, i added a touch of sugar and s&p.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
Great snack! Made this for our movie night. The hardest part is waiting for it to be done because the house smelled so good. My caramel came out a little lighter than I wanted but I guess I didn't crank up the heat high enough. It was still awesome though. I added a mixture of chex mix that needed to be used up (accidently bought the low-sodium ones). I do like the chex mix but not with the darker chex. Maybe next time I will go to winco and pick out my own mix such as white rice chex, peanuts (by request), etc., and probably throw in some m&m's after being cooled.

Jamaican Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
My family enjoyed your carribean dish! It was really easy as well. I had to run alot of errands so after searing, I threw the chicken in the slow cooker without water and added the potatoes 2 hours before dinner time. My husband thought the flavor was great but probably need to double it except the salt and curry (just to taste) and its also missing something else. One of my favorite jamaican dish calls for thyme so I might add that next time. Thank you, Shannon, for sharing your personal recipe!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2012
Finally made this but with tweaks though. I added garlic and omitted onions (per reviewers suggestion). I also added a quarter cup more of sauce and half cup more of cheese.

Smells strawberrylicious! This cake is great for the kiddos but I wouldn't serve this to just anybody. It's very easy to make, it's pretty, and it taste decent.

My Husband's Pad Thai Noodles

These were just "eh" to us. I did not use the cabbage because I was out but followed everything else and adjust the chili garlic and chili.

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2012
This one is my favorite because the outside came out crispier than the waffles I made before. My husband prefer the fluffy one from here, "Waffle I". My yeast didn't proof correctly but went ahead and made the batter anyways. I had to rise the dough a little longer. The second time I made this, I followed other suggestions to add a teaspoon of sugar to the milk/yeast and sure enough, it proofed!

Estella's Picadillo

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2012
Loved this hearty dish! I was a bit nervous about making this recipe because I've never used the dried chilies before but always open to trying something new. I followed all the ingredients but cut the pork in 4-5 pieces and cooked it for about 2 hours adding water when needed. Also made the sauce ahead of time just to have minimal clean up after dinner. Overall, the taste was great but felt the ancho chiles was too rich for me so cut that down next time.

Tina's Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
It was good! Quick, easy, and satisfied my sweet-toothed family. The cookies were a bit flat because my husbnd didn't flatten it "slightly". Also used mini chips as others suggested.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
We loved this especially the crust! Only wished I have added a half more of it. Make sure to taste your peaches before adjusting the sugar. Mmm best cobbler yet.

Waffles I

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
First time making waffles! Yummy! It's crispy and fluffy inside. Added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon; Beat the egg whites seperately to fold at the end. I would use more sugar and vanilla next time.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
Pretty good! Better than the cups/tarts that I've tried. It taste like bruschetta but in a cup. I followed other suggestions such as cutting the dough in quarters, sauteed onions, and half of the mayonnaise. I really wanted to buy the phyllo cups so that way I didn't have to do much prepping with the dough but the store didn't have any available.

I honestly liked this but my family gave it a thumbs down. I used rice vinegar and fresh dill.

Super Spicy Garlic & Lime Shrimp

Yum! I did what SLJ6 did except less salt, no cayenne (have a little one), and just drizzled with olive oil to coat. Had the best shrimp burrito ever!

Ghirardelli® Ultimate Double Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
Good but super rich! You seriously need milk with these. Anway, the preperation of rolling it to a log then slicing was messy. I would refridgerate for a while then scoop it out and probably pat it down a bit. I don't know. We'll see if I ever make this again.

Peanut Butter Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
I loved this because it had a light peanut taste but my husband and daughter wanted more peanuty taste next time (roll my eyes). My changes: halved the recipe (got 20 cookies), cup of flour, skipped the walnuts, added 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and used reeses chips instead of chocolate. So for sure, next time add more peanut butter. With every peanut butter cookies I make, I always sprinkle sugar on top right when I tale the cookies out of the oven.

Amazing Simple Thai Tofu

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
Not quite a 5 but it was good! I smoothed out the peanut butter by microwaving it 10-15 second intervals. After incorporating it to the tofu, I felt it was too thick, so I let it toast in the pan longer to dry a bit. I don't deal with thick texture very well. I also added a touch of thai chili garlic sauce.

Loved it! Just a few changes though like using sour cream instead of yogurt, used black beans frioles instead of refried, and grilled shrimps.
