Pennsylvania Dutch Potato Filling

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2012
It is interesting when this recipe receives a bad review based on when someone else suggests adding in "fun" alternatives to it. This is the bare bones recipe. Please only review it based on that, not on what others added or didn't add. These are amazing potatoes.

Salmon Broccoli Bake

Reviewed: May 11, 2010
Instead of canned salmon, I used 2 salmon fillets that I sauteed in butter in a skillet first and then continued with the recipe as written. It was very yummy! My young kids and husband love it!

Tortellini Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
VERY GOOD! I will put this into my regular meal rotation for sure! Kids and hubby loved it as well! I did not have wine on hand so I will try making it with the wine as suggested next time.

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
TOO MUCH VANILLA! I would only add a tsp next time...not 2 TABLE SPOONS! that is way too much and they tasted like sugar cookies...kinda made me sick feeling...like I was eating a plate FULL of cookie dough. The rest of the recipe is super! The crepes are easy to make, to flip, nice texture, just too much vanilla.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
horrible dough. I made this and followed it to the T. the dough was so dry that 1/4 of the flour was still in the bottom of the mixing bowl and would not absorb in. I dug out my moms sugar cookie recipe and saw this receipe uses half the "wet" ingredients that hers had in it. So I added 1/2 cup of shortening and it turned into a very nice dough! Cookies were fabulous! I had to hide half of them in the freezer so we will have some on Christmas day. However, without the extra moisture I added I have no idea how anyone could even get to the rolling it out stage.

Shoofly Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Amazing! Tastes like ginger bread! This is now my favorite pie! However, it was the ugliest pie I ever made. The middle sunk in and the 2 layers melted into eachother...but sometimes the ugliest dessert is the BEST! LOL Only variation I did was I made homemade pie crust, otherwise I followed it to the letter.

Grilled Whole Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was super! It freed up my oven so I could bake side dishes for Thanksgiving! Only thing I did not realise is the direct grilling part took over an hour. Plus the 3-4 hours in the pan on the grill. So I would figure it taking longer than the recipe says. Best turkey we ever made! We used a charcoal grill...tip we used is don't open the grill, just trust that its going well...every time you open a grill you loose 50 degrees!--which can add 15 min to cooking time.

My hubby and kids love these; I make it into muffins and my husband takes a couple every morning for breakfast.
