Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
This was good! I made it exactly as the recipe said. I toasted some rolls under the broiler in the oven to put the sloppy joes on. served with a side of potato salad and dinner was done!

Bake or Break

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
Pretty cocoa-y tasting. I think when I make it again, I'll reduce the amount of cocoa a bit. I will also add some chopped pecans to the batter. This is the reason for the 4 out of 5 star rating. Which also make me chuckle about it called batter. It's very thick when the first part's put in the pan. But just follow the directions and it'll work out with the 1-1/2 cups of hot water. I baked mine in an 8 inch black skillet and it was perfect for it! The sauce left on the bottom is smooth and sweet! I would certainly use it on some ice cream next time.

Granola Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
I used a couple of the reviewers suggestions for adding this and that. I too added 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, some sunflower seeds, finely chopped pecans, and some ground flax meal. I didn't know I had cranberries, but I'll make this again and add all those things plus the cranberries and some cinnamon. This is the second time I've made this recipe and followed the original recipe the first time. It was good, but I wanted to add more "texture" to it, thus the changes. I agree with the one reviewer who mentioned that this is a good basic recipe for granola. I've rated it 5 stars because the recipe was really good.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2013
I had seen some reviews of this cake before, but either didn't have all the different ingredients, or wasn't in the mood to bake. Today I baked. This is a really sweet cake, but it's really delicious! I made it just as it is in the recipe above and I will keep this one. I think it would be really good with some strawberries, peaches, or blueberries on the side. I'm impressed! Thanks for the recipe!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
This was awesome! I read previous reviews and lined the pan with foil sprayed with Pam, doubled the sauce part of the recipe, and covered the chicken with foil. I agree that it was not too sweet or salty. I had regular soy sauce, and used the advice of one reviewer with 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. I almost forgot to double the cornstarch. I also used some of each cut of chicken ~ thighs and breasts. I believe the thighs were the absolute best! Covering the chicken with half of the sauce, baking it for 30 mins., then turning the chicken and putting the remainder sauce over the chicken was the best idea! This was so much better than the bottled sauce! I paired it with some homemade cole slaw. Thank you for such a good recipe. It's a keeper for me!

Creamy Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
Fortunately/unfortunately, I am like many others on this website...I "tweek" recipes to fit my tastes and pantry ingredients. I used most of the comments and some chicken I had already baked. There was one reviewers who said to use cream of chicken instead of mushroom, did that. I used French-style green beans instead of peas. I also used cheddar cheese, because it's what I had. This was ready in no time, easy to make and very tasty, my picky eater son loved it as well. I did add some garlic powder and onion powder. This is the kind of recipe that's easy to change and alter any way you want or need to change. I will make this again.

Millionaire Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I needed a quickie recipe for dessert and had all the ingredients for these pies. I did follow the recipe though. Except I also added about 1/4 cup of shredded coconut and followed a reviewer's suggestion of adding 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. I also would make sure to drain/strain the pineapple, then drying it completely on a kitchen towel or paper towel before putting in the cream cheese mixture. It makes a huge difference! It didn't set fast enough for me, so I put the pies in the freezer for a couple of hours. I do suggest, however, to take it out and put in fridge before serving. It was a good pie. I liked the pie, but I will keep looking for another recipe like this.

Chewy Caramel

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2012
This caramel is awesome! After reading and following some reviewer's suggestions, I found this really wonderful! I like the softer caramels too, I doubled the recipe, cooked to the soft ball stage plus 2 mins, used parchment paper, buttered the sides of a jelly roll pan, and let it sit all day before wrapping it up. After a few practice wraps, I finally got the size and how to wrap each piece. I think I will try making it again and boil it to the firm ball stage. At any rate, I'm sending this to school for our teachers sweets exchange! Looking forward to their positive comments!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

This apple pie was as delicious as most of the reviewers have stated! Oh Wow! I added spices as recommended by other reviewers. It baked continually on 350, I used a frozen crust. Totally a winner for the upcoming holidays!

Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2012
I was in a hurry and looking for a good chocolate pie recipe last night. This looked like the one my mother used to make that everyone in the family loves. If it's not, it runs a close second! Wow, it's rich, creamy and very good. I only had an 8" pie shell, so the remaining filling went into some pudding dishes (2). I usually don't have the exact ingrediets called for in some of these recipes and I substiute what I have instead. This time, I got to follow the recipe exactly and it was truely a good pie! I will keep this recipe and use it for the holidays! Thank you!

I followed the advice of others and used some green chilis to liven the flavor up a bit. Rotel but no tomato soup. It was okay.

No-Bake Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
These were good, but I messed up by using some "substitute" sugar! It needs to cook longer because it didn't set up like it did when I remade them using regular sugar. I won't make that mistake again.

Comforting Chicken Casserole

This was very tasty. I like my chicken turned in the middle of baking because it looks so much more appealing. That was the only change I made to the recipe.
