Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
It was fair. We tasted the garlic mayo more than anything. If I was to make again, (which, honestly I probably won't) I'd put VERY little mayo on, as it seems to overpower the mild beef. I will continue to look, but thanks for sharing.

Turnip Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
As an avid new-recipe tryer, baker, cooker, etc etc, I can honestly say, I've NEVER tried turnips. My father-in-law gave me a bunch, and so had my inspiration. I looked up a few recipes that sounded good, and this one sounded the easiest. It was! And WOW!! was it good. I *did* heed the other reviewers warning about it being too sweet, and so only put in 1/4 sugar. But everything else was the same! My whole family LOVED IT!! I will now add this recipe to my regular repetoir! Thank you for posting!

Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
This was a good change from the usual butter/brown sugar. But it didn't "wow" me. It was filling, but lacked flavor. It might work if you mess w/ the recipe a little, but I don't think I'll put in the effort on this one.

VERY good! I made this as a side dish to grilled shrimp, but actually it turned into filling for shrimp burritos.

Sweet Pepper Pasta Toss with Kale

Good quick midweek meal. Next time I will add more kale, as I couldn't taste it too much. But still, the recipe is very tasty as written.

A great way to throw in a meatless meal for your meat loving family. They won't know the difference because it is so tasty and filling.

Soy Ginger Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
10 stars! This is absolutely the best salmon recipe ever! I've been making this for months and months now, and wont even consider making salmon any other way! Don't let the ginger scare you, as it did initially for DH, you can't even taste it. I also usually marinate it for only an hour or so, as that's how my time allows, and still, it turns out fantastic!!

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
Very good! Easy to make. To speed it up when short on time, I put it in the microwave cut side down in a pie plate, covered w/ cellophane for 12-15 min. For the meat lover in the family, I make keilbasa on the side for this dish.

I was so nervous about this because it's just an expensive cut of meat. But I followed this recipe to a T, and it came out so good and got rave reviews!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
Made recipe w/ the 1/2 oil, 1/2 applesauce method. Very good, but sticky when you handle? Not a problem for me, but some of my guests were turned off by the residue left on their fingers. I also made a batch for mini loaves. Cant remember exactely how long, I think 35 min, until a toothpick came out clean.

Oyster Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
Great recipe. Changed hubby's bad memory of Oyster Stew - hot milk, butter, and oysters. He loved it. I did add 1 cubed potato and sauteed it w/ celery for about 15 minutes, then added the shallots. Added 2Tbs flour to pan. I could only find 8oz cans, so used 4. Made dinner rolls to dunk w/. VERY FILLING!! And YUMMY!

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
I guess I'm too much of a gringa! I couldn't get them rolled out much bigger than 5-6 inches across. Then as soon as it hits the heat from the pan, it shrinks even more. The taste was fine, for thick, flour"y" tortillas. I'm sure if done properly it would be wonderful, but until I have some "authentic" help, I'm gonna stick to store bought.

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
Excellent! My and my family's only complaint was there wasn't more. The recipe yielded 6 cakes for me. Next time, I'll double it. Also, hubby (mr. meat and potato only guy) wants to try these on a bun. A healthy alternative to hamburgers. I set shredded zucchini aside w/ sprinkled salt to release water, then I squeezed it out. Note - be careful about how much salt you use, as my cakes turned out a little salty due to the old bay already called for in recipe. And as others suggested, I did add an additional tsp of old bay. Also, I made a dipping sauce too. Anything will do. Dill dip, tarter, or good ol' ketchup. Great recipe! Thank you for submitting!

Catfish Gumbo

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2006
Everything looked and smelled soooo good until I put the catfish in. I just wasn't sure about "boiled" fish. I served it up and my kids wouldn't touch it even after convincing them that this is the same fish I fry w/ french fries. My husband and I tried it, and both agreed that shrimp would've been far better. We picked around the catfish.
