Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2013
I made this with a few alterations that I found in the other reviews. I added 4 cloves of garlic, 2 bay leaves instead of one, added a tsp of cumin and curry powder, used 2.5 cups broth and 5.5 cups water, and I subbed the spinach for kale as it holds up a bit better in soup and doesn't get all mushy after it's been refrigerated. I gave this 5 stars because it is an excellent base recipe that can easily be modified based on one's personal tastes. Will definitely be making this again!!

Double Crust Bean Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2013
This is a great recipe, I loved it, my husband loved it, and I will definitely be making it again. The only changes I made on this recipe were I just dumped all the bean mixture in and topped it with cheese (though that was largely because I didn't read the instructions very thoroughly lol)and I didn't put a crust on the top, just left the cheese naked up there. That cut my cooking time down to about 35-40 minutes instead of a full hour. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!!

Crispy Vegetable Pakoras

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
This is a great batter recipe! I think next time I will dice the vegetables as others have suggested, but the flavor is awesome. I think I'll use more chili next time as well, but I will definitely be making this a lot. Even my daughter loved these and she's so picky. Thanks for sharing this recipe!!!

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This brine made my turkey so rich and flavorful, I will definitely use this recipe every time I make a bird. I did alter it slightly, using 2 cups of kosher salt instead of 1.5, and I used garlic powder (roughly 2 tsp) instead of minced garlic, threw in some poultry seasoning (about 2 tsp) and threw in a few bay leaves. And my bird came out perfect, I roasted it instead of smoking, and I had about 2-3 cups of drippings in my turkey bag. This was my first turkey and everyone said it was the best they'd ever had. The gravy I made with the drippings was also super yummy. I would highly recommend this brine to anyone.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
I've tried a few different chicken fried steak recipes and this one is a winner! My family gobbled it up. The buttermilk is what really made the difference, it might be fatty but it makes the batter fabulous. Thanks for sharing this one!

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
This recipe is amazing! I didn't have any leeks on hand, so I just used a large sweet onion in place of the leek and it was fabulous!!! Aside from that I followed the recipe exactly as written. Some people said they blended the potatoes, but I thought that chopping the potatoes small and being a little rough with them when I stirred them broke them up and gave the desired texture. This is such an easy recipe, and it is scrumptious. I will make this again and again!!!
