Onion Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
This was awesome with a yellow onion! I don't think I'll even bother with red onions. I didn't expect so much flavor. I added a little salt and a bay leaf.

Cuban Black Beans II

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
This is very good, especially after the first day. But I checked out Cuban Black Beans and added cumin and paprika as that recipe suggests. I'll definitely make this again.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Perfect! There's a lot of powdered sugar/cocoa dust flying around when you make this but its worth the trouble to clean up. I didn't use quite as much sugar (maybe 8 cups) and I used almond milk since I'm lactose intolerant. I iced Cream Filled Cupcakes (by Grace W.) which were delicious also. My husband says its the best cupcake he's ever had - way better than the fancy cupcake store we go to.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
This is just the bread recipe I've been searching for. It tastes wonderful and its not difficult to make. My favorite thing about it is that it makes three loaves. So you can freeze the others, take one out for the second rise when you need it, and pop it in the oven. I use a cake pan instead of a bread pan because I like how the shape turns out. I bake it for only 22-23 minutes and its just right.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
This is very good. I liked it even more the next day. I did leave out the sausage to cut the calories and didn't miss it. The only negative was that it was too salty but I think this is due to the kind of Italian seasoning I used. This is a keeper.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I almost hesitate to give a bad review among all these high ones. I agree with some of the negative reviews. It seems that the proportions just don't work. 2 teaspoons of milk in a cup of confectioner's sugar don't turn out smoothly. Instead, I used 1 T butter at room temperature instead of the corn syrup, 1 cup conf. sugar, 2 t milk, and 1/4 almond extract. I think this combination was much tastier and easier to mix.
