Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
I used butter instead of shortening for this recipe. It was very hard for me to mix in the blueberries. The buckle was great warm out of the oven - but it does not keep well. If you are going to make this make sure you cover the leftovers tightly - maybe this will help not dry it out.

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I followed another reviewers advice & substituted the shortening with butter. These cookies are delicious not too sweet. They are even good without the frosting.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I used a 16 lb. turkey - substituted chicken broth for bouillon & water. I also added celery to the liquid mixture, added garlic to the rub, and stuffed with sliced navel oranges. We left my teen son home to cook the turkey & he forgot to baste it. It was dry at first taste but I quickly doused the meat with the liquid - saving the bird. The meat fell off the bones - and the liquid made excellent gravy.

White Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
One of the best white chili recipes I've tried. The only issue I had was with the servings amount. It barely fed my family of 6 - we all had to have small bowls. Definitely double the recipe if you have more than 5 people to feed!

Rosemary Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This recipe turned out great. I cooked the roast covered with foil for 1 hour, and then removed the foil the last hour. It was very tender & moist - a great dinner paired with mashed potatoes & country style green beans with bacon!

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I will have to cut the sugar in the peach mixture back the next time I make this recipe. It was a little too sweet. I did 1/2 the water - which was good advice from other cooks. I used frozen peaches - and they worked well.

Crepes

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
After having crepes in France I had to make them. This recipe is simple and tastes close to the French restaurant crepes. I add vanilla to the batter, and use butter to fry them up in a fritata pan. Nutella and banana slices are my favorite combination, but my husband loves the gruyere cheese and turkey.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
My children love this meatloaf. We never have leftovers. I increase the amount of meat to 2 lbs. ground chuck, substitute 1 cup oatmeal for the bread crumbs, add a dash of Worcester sauce, and 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese. I divide the meat in half and bake in 2 loaf pans.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I was a bit worried these brownies would not turn out. The mixture was very dry. I added pecans instead of walnuts, and used the Hershey's chocolate frosting recipe. The brownie's turned out very moist - and were delicious. The texture is different from traditional brownies due to the grated zucchini.
