Salmon Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly, except I used baked salmon marinated in olive oil, garlic, butter and pepper. Baked semi frozen salmon filet for 35 min at 400 Degrees. BF loved it... he sampled it on a rosemary cracker and just raved over and over how good it was. So now he has a much nicer lunch than tuna fish for the rest of the week. This really is a fantastic recipe! Thanks for posting it!

Dried Cherries, Pecans and Rosemary Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
I make this recipe every year and just love it! This year I decorated the top festive leaves with my william sonoma pie crust cutter. I highly recommend purchasing one! It looked like a piece of art! It went quickly as usual and everyone raved...also very usual! :)

Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
A fail proof recipe and another fantastic way to use the hundreds of pears that have fallen in the back yard! I noticed that those who did have good luck making this, did not follow the instructions. You must follow the recipe! The only addition I made was a streusel topping and a vanilla drizzle for the top. (I have a wicked sweet tooth!) My boyfriend took it to work and everyone when crazy for it. His words: "Even the skinny girls came back for seconds!" haha The recipe is a keeper!

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2012
Seriously the best cheescake I ever had. I had to use a smaller pan (9") so it was in the oven a little longer (an hour longer) But I guess the best thing to do is just follow Muffy's directions and just keep checking your cheesecake until it is done. I topped mine with a simple can of canned cherry pie filling while cooled and still in the spring form pan and then put back in the fridge. This helped it to keep the cherries on top in a pretty design which I removed it from the pan. I made this for my fiance on his bday. People raved. (except for my jealous brother in law to be who refuses to eat anything I make) :) This is the first cheesecake I have made that did not crack without having to fuss with pans of water in the oven etc. It is simple and seriously the prettiest and best tasting cheesecake ever. 100 Stars to you Muffy! You are a star chef!

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
I did increase the lemon to 1/2 cup and added the lemon zest of one lemon. (its all a matter of taste..I like a strong but not too strong lemon bar) Seriously the best lemon bars I have ever had! Even better than the high priced lemon bars I bought at a specialty shop in MI that I thought for years were the best (until this recipe) Fiance said it is his favorite dessert ever.

Grilled Pork Chops with Balsamic Caramelized Pears

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
LOVED IT! This was super easy, but tasted like an expensive meal from a high-end restaurant! It was also a fun recipe for my boyfriend and I to make together! (I made the sauce...he manned the grill) It is also yet another way to cook the hundreds of pears in the back yard! Follow the recipe as written and you will have a winning dinner as well.

BAKER'S ONE BOWL Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I have to agree with the one reviewer who said it was too buttery. The texture was good however. I think Katy Brown was right when she said that the best brownies come from a box mix. I have not had a better brownie than Ghiardelli boxed brownie mix.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
This is a good apple pie but did add about a quarter cup of water to the syrup mixture as it did thicken too much. As with every recipe it is all about a matter of personal taste and I would have added spices to the mixture. Unlike other reviewers I did not have a problem with a soggy bottom crust or it being to sweet or tart. I think a cook really has to adjust the measurements themselves based on the end result of they syrup mixture. If it is too thick to pour, just add water until it thins out a bit. I am only giving this 4 stars as I feel it did need some spice, but the recipe is a very good one otherwise.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Perfect crust. Super easy to work. Even though I did not have a cutter or fancy mixer it came out perfect. I just pinched small pieces of butter crisco and cut it in with a fork and rolled it between two sheets or parchment paper after I let it set/chill in the fridge for an hour. If you are afraid of making a crust from scatch, don't be as this is truly a no-fail recipe. Very light and delicate.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
A half hour ago a found this recipe... 5 min ago I pulled the first batch out of the oven! How simple is that?? Besides being super easy, they are THE BEST Coconut Macaroons ever in the history of Macaroons! :) ( I had to try one right away!!) I took advice from a reviewer and greased and floured the baking sheet and it worked like a charm. (I have a very thin spatula and removed the cookies right away from the hot sheet) I made them golf ball size and it made 12 on one sheet and still have half of the mixture left over, so looks like it will yield far more that a dozen. I would not monkey around with this recipe, it is far too good!
