Bacon Wrapped Pineapple

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
I was skeptical of how many super-positive reviews there were - the ingredients seemed a bit too simple to yield such impressive results. I was wrong! People raved about how juicy, flavorful, and "addictive" these were. We even had a dedicated vegetarian guest try them (and then eat 7 more afterwards!!!). They're not overly pretty, but they taste fancy. The only thing I did differently was that I made the sauce and marinated the pineapple and bacon in it for a couple hours, then pulled them out, skewered them, and cooked them on a baking sheet. I didn't like the idea of them simmering in the greasy sauce - and they still turned out juicy and delicious!

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
Newly gluten free, I made this several weeks ago. I liked it a lot, but for my own taste, I would probably add more herbs or some kind of depth in flavour. Maybe chopped cilantro or parsley would give it a more exciting flavour. I liked the texture though. Will make again.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
Made these for Christmas for the first time. I didn't roll in coloured sugar, like the picture, so they looked just like an ordinary molasses or ginger cookie. My sisters said they rivalled my Mom's time-tested ginger cookie recipe which is a huge compliment. Don't overbake!

Caramel Peanut Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
These were easy, but not so 'impressive' for visual appeal. I'm generally very good at making desserts and dainties look impressive but these were hard to make look overly pretty. Also, due to the peanuts, the caramel flavour was overpowered and quite a few people thought it included peanut butter. That being said, I really liked the taste and texture - very chewy and rich tasting. I used milk chocolate chips instead of candy coating (since I don't like the candy coating taste) and this worked well.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
These cookies taste just like a Banana Choc Chip muffin, but you don't have to worry as much about texture (my muffins always end up too thick). They don't end up looking very 'pretty' (browned on top, lumpy) but they taste great! I didn't really like the huge amount of sugar but could probably alter it next time. I added a smidge more vanilla, just for a little more flavour!

Root Beer Float Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Followed recipe but added rootbeer extract, as recommended by others. Thank goodness, or there would be zero flavour. I also found them a little dry, but maybe that's just me. I think it's the novelty of the flavour that's more exciting than the actual taste.
