New Jersey by birth; DC / Northern VA educated; Hawaii re-birth; Orlando years due to family; N Carolina by choice. Plus 45 countries visited. I've been around. So is my tummy and my palate is just as accommodating!
My favorite things to cook
Playing around with zucchini's in the summer and ANYTHING in my fancy All Clad crock-pot! Pork Tenderloin is fun to season up and cook slow.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was from Boston and can cook (Irish influenced) Corned beef and cabbage as well as (Italian influenced) a good tomato ragu. She spent her summers in the South, so she knew her way around collard greens and fried chicken too! She liked to travel and enjoyed spices, herbs and various flavors. This was passed on to me. Had a Vegetarian husband who is Japanese and we lived in Hawaii, so I like complex veggie flavors and Asian foods. Currently with a country living S.O. that likes basic meats and vegetables and he doesn't like complex herbs and seasoning. He's a true Southerner: salt, pepper and hot sauce and he's good for life! It's been a fun challenge to spice things up a notch for him and yet still be appealing to me. I like cooking!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking vegetarian dishes (Mostly Asian) while living in Hawaii. I was adept at making tempura veggies, Thai curries and Chinese eggplant / Thai dishes! Now living in the N Carolina, I am learning a thing or two about coleslaws, stewed meats and fried okra!
My cooking tragedies
Well, there was one cobbler recipe on this site that was a complete disaster and that stands to this day to be my worst experience. I blame myself. I should have sensed there was no batter. I could have fixed it. I know better to look at things and to not go 100% by Internet recipes.
