Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I made these for a church christmas party and got great reviews... some said it tasted like a sugar cookie others said the consistancy reminded them of a lemon bar... i thought they were very good and incredibly easy to make... they are very sweet though so I recommend cutting the pieces small... great recipe

Pasties II

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
very good classic pasty.... i even made mine using lard crust.... you can really put what ever you want inside ground meat or cubed meat and different veggies.... two things to be sure you do though is make sure they seal up good and be sure to add the slab of butter... if you don't they will dry out...

Pecan Turtle Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
SO SO Simple and really really good... very rich and sweet though... an easy recipe to through together when you need a quick dessert.... I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and added an additional half half of flour and I also added a half cup of semi-sweet chips to the milk chocolate mine turned out wonderful.... I can see how more of the caramel layer might be good but the way I made them turned out great....

Chex® Muddy Buddies® -- Gluten Free!

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Ahhh the good old off the box Muddy Buddies... aka Puppy Chow.... i did however use the old school method of melting the chocolate and peanut butter on the stove... just seems to work easier for me as long as I have time to stir and keep an eye on it... very good.. quick and easy and a classic...

Leftover Chicken Croquettes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
these reminded me a lot of turkey and stuffing.. they tasted pretty good... i did have to add two more eggs and a little milk to make them hold together... also i added some red pepper flakes and used italian seasoned bread crumbs.... it took them about 10 minutes to fry in an electric fry pan at 250... i will consider trying the baking method next time... good recipe

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
these are very tasty but a ton of work... i used leftover baked potatos from the fridge which may have been a mistake because they potato didn't come out very easially and they didn't whip the greatest... but after a little work they turned out great... very tasty... the only thing I had in the fridge was sour cream with onions and chives so i used that instead of plain sour cream and green onions... very good recipe even if it is a lot of work...

Simple Beef Flavored Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
I can honestly say this was my first attempt at making "fake gravy" without using meet drippings.... honestly I can say this recipe is not half bad...... I heated the water dissolved the bouillon cubes added the onions and half the butter... then i stirred flour with a little water to dissolved and slowly added that to thicken... it seemed to work however the other reviewer seemed to make sence about sauteing the onion then adding the flour and then the water with the bouillon... either way it turn out good for me...

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I was reading other reviewers who said that this recipe could be made in the slowcooker.... however I don't think I got the same results... my glaze tasted really good but became really runny... so i thickened with some cornstarch and made a gravy to serve over the meat... next time I will try making the recipe in the oven basting while the roast is cooking... good tasting glaze though gave the meat great flavor... I ate the leftovers on a sandwich with cajon seasoning oh my gosh was it good.... next time I make this recipe i will rub the roast with cajon and then cover it with the glaze... maybe give that a try...

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I just had to try to make homemade eggnog.... this recipe turned out great.... I followed the recipe exactly.... definately being cautious about over cooking the egg..... turned out wonderful... I divided in half and cut the alcohol back by about a 1/4 cup for half which would be a 1/2 cup for the recipe.... next time I think I will just make a whole batch non alcoholic and then if people want they can spike their own very good though...

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
a great combination of beans really keeps things interesting... this recipe turned out great i put in the slow cooker for 5 hours on high leaving the cover off for the last half hour... these turned out great everyone loved them.... not quite as good as the totally from scratch Boston Baked Beans from this site but so much easier to make.... really a great medley to the traditional baked beans

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
I am honestly amazed how these turned out... the natural pocket that was created was incredible.... not too incredibly difficult to make either... i even kneaded the dough by hand because I made a batch and a half... I am attempting to freeze some of the leftovers for later.... very good and taste like good greek pitas... definately be sure to cover with a damp cloth as soon as they come out of the oven... Great Pitas

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
This recipe turned out great... I didn't however use a sirloin steak when I made it... I used a tougher cut, a round steak and it did tender up nicely as it cooked all day.... it had great flavor served over rice.... I also tried serving it with homemade pita and it worked ok... but rice was definately easier.... a good recipe to through in the slow cooker and forget about.. I did add a little black pepper and a few red pepper flacks... another thing I might do next time is wait a little bit to put in the green pepper as they did get soft... but then I might lose out on some flavor... it was very good the way it was made...

Easy Pavlova

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
Wow definately a unique and interesting dessert...... turned out wonderful though... definately one thing to remember next time is after an hour just shut the oven off and let it cool inside as suggested by other reviewers..... but tended to crack up quite a bit... which didn't matter a ton because it go covered in the whipped cream anyway... the cream definately does not need to be sweetened too much I added some vanilla extract and also about a tablespoon and a half of powdered sugar... the sweetness of the meringue is more than enough.... very easy to make also.....

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
Very tasty... I boiled my carrots and then added the remaining ingredients... the carrots had good flavor but the butter seem to just run off of them.. maybe next time I could cut back on the butter... or next time try using real maple syrup instead of brown sugar... the dill gave the carrotts good flavor...

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
Very basic and tastes like beer thats what I was looking for in the recipe... i have seen other recipes with herbs and spices that I will also try but this was the basic recipe I was looking for... I took the adivce and made my own self rising flour 1 cup flour to 1 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt... worked well... next time I will also try brushing the top of the loaf with butter... and maybe sprinkling with garlic salt for added flavor...

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
wow very very rich and tasty caramel and chocolate are an excellent combination... this recipe is super easy to make and everyone loves it... the cake mix I had was a little old so it didn't rise like it should have so the cake was more dense... similar to the idea one reviewer had of using half the oil... mine sat in the refridgerator for 24 hours and did not get soggy.. I also melted down carmels mixing them with milk to make the caramel sauce... i made it thicker than the ice cream topping probably is.... turned out good was not soggy at all... only other thing i might do different is make my own whipped topping instead of using cool whip.... great recipe thanks!!

Blueberry Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
Note these are a little time consuming to make and the dough is sticky and hard to work with but it is well worth it when they are done great presentation and taste.... I had to bake mine at least ten minutes longer than it said to... next time I might even try lowering the oven temp to 375 and cooking for about 35 minutes or so... best word of advice just keep on eye on it when it browns up it is done... well worth the work
