Emily's Pickled Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Good tasting basic pickled egg..... the only thing I might consider changing is removing the clove from the pickling spice... that might be the overwhelming flavor I taste... I should have listened to the other reviewer who suggested that... also I am considering adding a little garlic, some red pepper, and some sugar... also I will leave a few more onions uncooked (because I just love them).. but otherwise this recipe seem to work well for me... no troubles at all... they are disappearing fast which is always a good sign... UPDATE: The last time I made these I made the following changes... used only 1 Tablespoon salt... removed most of the cloves from the pickling spice... added 4 cloves worth of minced garlic.... 1 tablespoon sugar... and 1/8 teaspoon of crushed red pepper... Also I love pickled onions so I layered a few extra slices of raw ones with the eggs.. My family said the liked the changed recipe better... I will stick with my changes next time I make it... I definately like eating the extra onion I added...

ABC Pudding - Avocado, Banana, Chocolate Delight

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
I saw this recipe and I just had to try it because it was so unique I never would have though of combining those three ingredients... As it chills it really does develop a flavor all its own you can definitely taste the banana but really it develops its own chocolaty flavor.. I did have to add a little milk to get it to blend in my tiny blender but the consistency was still perfect.. and the best part is it is there is no added sugar or anything.. all natural ingredients... thanks for the idea

Slow Cooker Lasagna II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
True you do have to do a lot of work but then you can set it on the counter and have dinner ready when you get home. I put together the night before then put in the refrigerator and turned the slow cooker on in the morning. It tasted really good just like Lasagna. The only suggestion I have is using cottage cheese in place of ricotta cheese.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I made these for a church christmas party and got great reviews... some said it tasted like a sugar cookie others said the consistancy reminded them of a lemon bar... i thought they were very good and incredibly easy to make... they are very sweet though so I recommend cutting the pieces small... great recipe

Danish Kringle

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
A great kringle.... I am excited to try different fillings with it but the walnut brown sugar one was definately really good.... the flacky crust really makes this recipe great... I made 1/3 of the recipe to just make one kringle... turned out well.. the dough works well when it is cold... next time I will try rolling it out on floured parchment paper for easier transfer to the baking sheet... also make sure the cuts aren't too long or you will lose the filling... follow these pointers and you will get a GREAT Kringle

Pecan Turtle Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
SO SO Simple and really really good... very rich and sweet though... an easy recipe to through together when you need a quick dessert.... I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and added an additional half half of flour and I also added a half cup of semi-sweet chips to the milk chocolate mine turned out wonderful.... I can see how more of the caramel layer might be good but the way I made them turned out great....

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
WOW REALLY REALLY GOOD..... I cut the cream cheese in half and whipped it with milk, sugar, and vanilla... I also doubled the blueberries and the sauce. I poured about 3/4 of the sauce over the french toast and the other 1/4 I set on the table.... great breakfast bake

Tater Tot Casserole III

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
Not a bad casserole as is but I made some changes to mine... first i doubled it for a 9x13 pan... I also cut back the milk to a cup and a half (for the 9x13 pan) added a can of mushrooms and some shredded cheese under the tater tots... these additions seemed to make it a little better... not a bad recipe though... very simple

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
I would have to disagree with many of the other reviewers who thought all the spices counter acted each other... sure you couldn't just taste one spice... but it was the combination of all of them that made these potatoes taste so good... i cubed mine fairly small baked for 30 minutes at 475 and then finished them off with the broiler for a couple minutes to get them really night and brown... overall very very good recipe... if there is a spice you don't like then take it out or experiment with your own but as is... is really good

Jalapeno Bread II

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Great bread, with a nice little kick from the peppers. I was looking for a recipe to try in our bread machine because it was just sitting around and I wanted to know if it still worked. This recipe was easy and tasted great, the only thing I will do next time is add some more cheese, 1/2 cup just didn't seem to cut it. Will definately make again.

Easy Bunny Cake

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
It is a simple, fun, and easy way to add some cheer to Easter... the only thing I recommend is don't go overboard with the jelly beans when you are decorating... I covered almost the whole bowtie with them... granted it looked really nice it was also incredibly sweet.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

very good combination.... because other reviewers had a problem with the pie being runny I added a couple tablespoons of quick tapioca to the sugar mix and then also sprinkled some on the bottom crust before filling... no problems at all... great recipe...

Chocolate Scotcheroos

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
quick simple and always a favorite... the trick here is to remove from heat as soon as the corn syrup starts to boil... otherwise they will end up hard.. good recipe... as recommended by a friend who owns a catering company I will try using brown sugar instead of white sugar for better flavor!!

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This recipe tasted pretty good... I just have a few issues with it... first of it is not a pie... I think it would make a great crumb pie but for that to happen it needs a crust and to be put in a pie pan... second... next time I think I will add a tablespoon flour with the apples to help thicken them... also a tad of cinnamon, nutmeg, or nuts wouldn't hurt.... but the spices may take away from the maple flavor... but I think a few nuts would be a great addition.... the crumb topping is very good though and this recipe is a very good crisp...

Slow Cooker Venison Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
A pretty good recipe... definately a different take on venison... a friend of mine that doesn't care for venison actually loved this recipe... me personally growing up on venison felt it had a little too much cumin and chili powder... kinda took over... also it was a little sweet for some people's likings... I will cut back on the cumin and the sugar and maybe try real maple syrup next time I make it... prep time also took a little time but it was nice to come home and have it ready to eat... thanks for the recipe
