Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
first attempt i didn't read the reviews about browning the butter... i will have to definitely try that next time... if you want to be super healthy the asparagus tastes great baked without the butter also... but next time i will give browning it a try...

Almond Wild Rice

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
WOW super awesome... a great tasting recipe... i didn't have golden raisins so i used normal and it turned out great... I also cut back on the butter by about half and it was still plenty moist... might have been better with more butter... but i didn't personally miss it... another idea to make it a true Wisconsin dish is throw in dried cranberries instead of raisins... great recipe though everyone loved it...

Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
over all not a bad rhubarb bar... great way to use up some rhubarb... very very sweet though... i would recommend cutting back on the sugar.... perhaps down to 2 cups... also make sure they cool before cutting possibly even refrigerate after they reach room temperature.. mine were seemed pretty runny and i even baked for an extra 20 minutes until the top started to brown... over all not bad.. reminded me a lot of lemon bars...

Grilled Asparagus

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
so quick easy and simple... nothing like fresh asparagus in the spring... the best part is these aren't drowned in butter to hide the great flavor of the asparagus... great recipe

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
Next time I need to be sure and read reviews first and cook the egg mixture for at least 10 minutes... I thought it would thinken as it cooled so I didn't cook mine near long enough.. even though it did seem to set up by following the suggestions of other reviewers 1 hour on the counter followed by 6 hours uncovered in the fridge... also make sure I beat the meringue for a little longer too into it gets really fluffy.... I added 1/4 tsp of cream of tarter to that and next time I might also add a 1/2 tsp vanilla and then a tablespoon of cornstarch after stiff peaks form.... otherwise it seemed to turn out very good...

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
Excellent cookie a nice take on the classic peanut butter tasted very good mine cooked to perfection in about 10 minutes and then I let them cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes very good the only thing I might do next time is add just a bit more oats... I also used all butter in mine... with great results...

Chocolate Chip Cookies Lite

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
first go wasn't the greatest with these... the texture was really chewy... that could be because I over mixed my dough... it seemed really runny so I decided to add some more flour... the flour was needed but led to over mixing... 1/4 of flour is a definate must or add some oats to help out the texture... not bad flavor for being a healthy alternative though... will try again

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
extremely healthy and very versatile recipe... I definitely recommend applesauce instead of oil... after that just use a little trial and error and make them to suit your own likings... my first batch I divided into thirds using raisins in all of them... one used oil... next I used apple sauce and the last I added cinnamon and a little salt.... the ones with the apple sauce were actually more moist... other things I might try is pressing into a pan and making granola bars... also chocolate chips might be good as well as any dried fruit.. walnuts might also add a little crunch and help the texture... add extra oats as needed... and honey if you would like them sweeter.. also lower the oven temp to 325.. you can't go wrong with something as all natural as these... no sugar added....

Broiled Grapefruit Crisp

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
Super simple yet super delicious... I never would have thought of this... the oven I used however burnt the granola topping right away so I turned the oven on to 350 to finish cooking... next time I think I will cook at 350 for 10-15 minutes and then brown it with the broiler if needed... the microwave method for 2 minutes also seemed to do the trick... actually seemed to heat the fruit more thoroughly... however I don't think the granola was quite as good.... either way very simple and unique recipe

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
super healthy and so tasty... I didn't have any available muffin tins to I put mine in a loaf pan and baked lowered the oven temperature to 350 and baked for 45 minutes.. It could have went a little longer probably 50-55 minutes... but it tasted wonderful and couldn't get any healthier...unless you cut back on the sugar... which I may do next time... if you think it tastes a little bland add some cinnamon but otherwise i like it just how it is.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2012
very excellent combination... great taste great texture.. I baked mine ten minutes until the edge just started to slightly turn brown, then cool on the pan for ten minutes.. I would however definitely recommend rolling into a ball and flattening... yes your cookie will be more dense and you won't get as many but when I dropped mine they did not spread at all and didn't look the best... rolled the presentation was amazing and the texture and taste was still good... great version of chocolate chip cookies

Oat Applesauce Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
Super Healthy wow great basic recipe... these taste great as they are but you can add what ever you want to these and they will taste excellent and be healthy... I added 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and about 1/3- 1/2 cup raisins soaked in water.. and they turned out great... blueberries might also be great... I think if you want to make them even healthier you can increase the apple sauce to 3/4 cup and cut the sugar to 1/4 cup... but as is these are very tasty and super healthy

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2012
a very good side dish... a different change of pace... my mom and grandma actually make these by throwing all the ingredients in a blender, blending and then adding diced potatoes and liquefying them... then pouring the batter into a skillet making small pancakes.. some people may not like doing it like that because they tend to be mushier.. but they do taste excellent.. and very unique... but making them as this recipe states turned out good too

Chocolate Scotcheroos

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
quick simple and always a favorite... the trick here is to remove from heat as soon as the corn syrup starts to boil... otherwise they will end up hard.. good recipe... as recommended by a friend who owns a catering company I will try using brown sugar instead of white sugar for better flavor!!

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
very tasty stir fry... I am not sure if I really like using ground beef in a stir fry but this still turned out good... very cheap and easy to make.. I doubled the recipe... and added an onion instead of a a second bell pepper... also I used beef broth instead of water.. next time I might try using thinly sliced beef instead of hamburger... very peppery... good flavor..

Chocolate 'N' Oat Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
wow so simple and easy to make I listened to the other reviewers and added an extra 2 tablespoons butter and mine turned out great... they got a little over done so I think the cooking time should be about 20 minutes... also these would taste great with some coconut sprinkled on for the the topping...

Guinness® Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
Overall not a bad recipe... mine rose nicely and had a good flavor.. i am not sure if it is worth using a bottle of Guinness for... its about $2 a bottle... but the simple basic beer bread is also pretty good... this bread did have a very unique and great flavor though

Churros

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
These reminded me of the churros you can get from the fair or carnival... very good.. using a pastry bag is definitely a good idea it gives them a great presentation and makes this easier... just make sure you like the dough cool slightly before putting it in the bag... mine stretch out out the bag a squeezed the tip right out.. otherwise these turned out wonderful... not exactly the healthiest but that's why they are fair food.. another note I cut the sugar and cinnamon in half and had just the right amount
