Japanese Zucchini and Onions

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
Very very good... This recipe tastes great as a stir fry served over rice but also tastes excellent by itself as a side dish... either way the toasted sesame seeds definitely add a great flavor!!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2012
These are fabulous and super healthy especially if you substitute ½ whole wheat flour (I did this especially because I like the taste)... but I think they are one of those recipes you learn by trial and error... to start out I had a lot of error... I overcooked most of them... cooking time should be less than a minute as long as you have a hot nonstick pan... also immediately place between paper towels in a sealed bag... by the time I got them all done they had all softened each other up nicely... mine did start to harden in the fridge after a few days, to soften I wrapped in a damp paper towel and microwaved for 5 to 10 seconds and they were perfect... next time I will try like other reviewers said and use hot or boiling water... also I found that it takes skill learning how to roll them out... I think it is best not to over flour the surface and turn the tortilla over constantly until round and about the thickness of a dime

Trail Mix Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
a tasty healthier take on a usually fat and sugar packed cookie... I think you can throw what ever you want in these for texture (different nuts or seeds) and flavor (vanilla chips or other dried fruit)... the only problem i had with mine is they seemed to have a rather chewy texture... this could have been because I put them in a container too soon or perhaps didn't bake them long enough... but once you got past the texture these were pretty good

Zucchini and Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2012
I never though of how good of a combination zucchini and eggs could be together... but they do taste great... I tried mine throwing some garlic in the oil and then sprinkling with some italian herbs... however I didn't really care for mine over rice, the zucchini and eggs by themselves were great though

Spicy Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
Very good spice combination I didn't think it was over powering at all perhaps some reviews used the whole recipe for just 4 chicken breasts.... I think you should use the amount of spice to suite your own tastes if you like it spice really rub the chicken down if you prefer it mild then hold back... I really enjoyed this recipe thanks UPDATE: I tried this spice on a pork chop but found I liked it better on the chicken for sure

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
A good recipe if you want to use up some of those garden veggies but I don't think there was anything spectacular about it... tasted good but nothing special... next time I will use olive oil instead of veggie oil so it actually adds flavor I am not sure what the purpose of the veggie oil is... I may cut back on the amount to to make it healthier... also add more dill and black pepper... marinating longer than 15 minutes did help too it allowed the flavors to really develop.. but overall not bad.. good combination of veggies

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
A good recipe if you are in the mood for a very sweet glaze on your meat... definitely don't over do the sauce or like many reviewers you will complain about it being too sweet... I like the idea some reviewers had of substituting Jack Daniels in for the apple juice I think I will try it next time... but as written it is a cook glaze as long as you don't over do it

Bellyful of Barbecued Bananas

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
not a bad little dessert if you have plenty of bananas... very sweet and cooked bananas are always delicious... the bananas by themselves are also good if you don't want to serve over ice cream... fairly easy to make for your next barbecue

Lemon Pepper Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
Definitely nice and simple and after reading other reviews and doing some of my own experimenting I think you can season it almost anyway you like... the lemon pepper as written is definitely good.. also adding some dill weed and Parmesan cheese to it is excellent as well... some other seasonings I liked were Italian herbs and garlic salt and combinations of all of them... experiment to find what you like... instead of brushing with melted butter I cut the butter in half put the slices in a zip lock bag added the butter and tossed it around to coat... even by cutting the butter in half I still had a lot of excess left on the bag but the zucchini slices were perfectly coated... just right... good simple recipe thanks!!

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
I thought this recipe was really good... for those who said it didn't have flavor I disagree it is supposed to taste like cinnamon and that it does... a nice cinnamon vanilla flavor... I do agree that the sugar cinnamon swirl should be doubled... I did combine the dry and wet ingredients separately too... Next time I want to try replacing the oil with applesauce and cutting back on the sugar... to make it healthier.... walnuts or even raisins might also be a good addition but not necessary...

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
WOW SUPER FANTASTIC I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS RECIPE!!!... as far as salting the egg plant... must be a different variety of egg plant because the one I had was not bitter... so I didn't do that... I also sliced mine super this is 5-7 per side was enough but then you also run into the problem of needed more bread crumbs and running out of baking sheet space... I think the happy medium would be a little less what a quarter inch and back them for 7-10 minutes per side... i like it slightly mushy so the thicker ones were good... if you like them crispy then bake them longer... to make this recipe healthier I cut the cheese in half and it was just about perfect for my tastes... great recipe... loved it!!

Tomato Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
A very simple casserole and a great way to use up those garden vegetables... using mozzarella is an option instead of chedder depending on your preference... next time I want to try adding some cottage cheese to the cheese mixture.. if you want a healthier option I don't think that filling the bread crumbs with that amount of butter is necessary... I cut the butter back dramatically and it still tasted good...

Mommy's Sweet Carrot Milk

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
If you want warm and relaxing drink this fresh from the stove it is so delicious and will put you to sleep... or you can let it chill and it is cool and refreshing... I put mine in the blender after adding everything to the milk because it was still a little chunky and it did the trick.. it did make the milk very foamy and thickened it briefly... if you are going to drink it warm I highly recommend doing this... it was awesome... I did cut the sugar in half and it was still plenty sweet for me... good recipe I am glad I gave it a try!! UPDATE: Also tastes good with a sprinkle of cinnamon or for a different taste substitute cardamom.... still very good

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
Great classic lemon bar.... far far from being at all healthy... most recipes use half the butter and less sugar... these turned out fantastic and got great reviews from everyone who tried them.... I didn't have fresh lemons so I used 2/3 cup of lemon juice... if I have lemons next time I will juice them and add some zest... but as I made them they turned out great... just not the best things in the world for you...

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
Eat them hot, cold, or at room temperature... they are good either way... but then again I love sweet potatoes... like other reviews I experimented with other spices... the classic cinnamon and brown sugar was good... so was garlic salt... and paprika was good.... I guess what ever flavor you want to go for give it a try... I put the sticks in a zip-lock bag with the oil and tossed to coat then sprinkled the seasoning over the top... experiment with this one to find what you like if your not a fan of paprika

Oat Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
I had to give this recipe a try just because it sounded unique... I liked it better as it cool and thickened up... the toasted oats added a unique flavor... very very healthy especially if you cut back on the oil and use PAM... but then you are also losing flavor... either way still less sodium and processed garbage than canned tomato soup... I sprinkled with a little black pepper... good recipe thanks for the idea

California Tortilla Pizzas

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
I have one major problem with this recipe... why didn't I think of it... using a tortilla as a crust for a personal thin crust pizza awesome idea.. I think using that as a base you can do pretty much what ever you want with this recipe as far as toppings go.... I used 8 inch whole wheat tortillas because that is what I had on hand.... and sauteed the veggies in a not stick pan coated with cooking spray... I thought these has great flavor... a real emphasis on the veggies... and you can honestly change them and the cheese to fit your liking... pepper jack cheese was excellent on this... great idea thanks for submitting
