Turkey Garbanzo Bean and Kale Soup with Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
This was great! Only change I made was to omit the 3/4 cup water (I liked the strong tomato taste from the paste mixed only with the broth). Will definitely make again!

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
This was my first time making corned beef and cabbage, and it came out great! I personally like my "broth" to have a bit more flavor to it, so I added a few things to the water. I added 1/2 bottle of beer (had Harpoon UFO Heifenweizen on hand, but just about any will work), about 10 peppercorns, 1 tsp dried rosemary, 5 bay leaves, 1/2 sliced white onion, 2 tsp minced garlic, and a handful of cloves. With about 30 minutes left, I added the cabbage wedges and carrots. I personally like potatoes to have more flavor, so I cooked them separately and added a few things. I took 1-1/2 pounds of baby red potatoes, sliced them in half and cooked them in boiling water for about 12 minutes. Then I mixed in 1/3 stick of butter, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp dried parsley flakes, and salt and pepper to taste (I melted the butter and pre-mixed the ingredients, then added it all to the potatoes). I then served potatoes with the beef, cabbage, and carrots. I also served it with a side of french bread. This really was incredible... thanks for such an easy recipe!

Turkey Ragu with Fontina and Parmesan

The fontina adds a nice twist on the usual pasta bake. Will make again!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This is wonderful! I omitted the ketchup, flour, and beef broth and used Campbell's condensed beef vegetable soup with a little bit of water. I prefer it to the gravy, plus it adds a few more vegetables in. Easy and it comes out great!

Denise's Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This was incredible! I also subbed with peanut butter (it was much easier). I served it over basmati rice, the roommates loved it! The only thing I would take notice of is that the recipe as is makes for small sized portions (in my opinion, but I feed a bunch of boys so that could be why). I doubled the recipe. Will definitely make again!!!

Pasta with Greens N Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This meal is a family favorite! I am from Rochester originally, and this recipe is VERY similar to Romeo's version. I've previously made this and had never thought to add the pasta (I guess for a healthier version, it doesn't need it), but thanks for the wonderful suggestion! Also, I tend to add more broth because I prefer a soup-y consistency. Served with french baguette... delicious!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This is delicious! I found it to be borderline too salty for my taste, but I may have caused that problem by adding too much. Pretty easy, too!

Rosemary Chicken Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
Great for a hot summer night. I used 1/2 cup oil instead of 3/4, which worked out wonderfully. I also used black olives because that's all I had. Would make again!

Crispy Chicken Parmesan

Very easy, but I wasn't a huge fan. I found it to be kind of tasteless. I may try again with more seasonings. Will continue searching for a better chicken parm recipe, though.

Sesame Green Beans

I may cut back on the amount of oil used next time. I also think I may have let them cook too long because they were a bit soggy. Will try again because they were delicious otherwise!

Delicious! I didn't make the stars and left out the orange zest. I made this last weekend and noticed that I run out of the egg mixture before the bread... can't hurt to double it!

So good. Followed the recipe almost exactly, except I added green peppers and more ground beef, and used cans of enchilada sauce instead. Wonderful!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
This was great! I, along with majority of the reviewers, tweaked the recipe a tad. I sauteed an onion and a diced green pepper. I also threw in Italian seasoning and 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce to the mix. Also, taking the advice of other reviewers, I decided to use a different recipe for the glaze (one that was less sweet and more tangy). Try this... 1 cup V8, 4 tablespoons brown sugar, and 2 tablespoon soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce. Gave it a nice tangy flavor that wasn't overpoweringly sweet. Next time, I will probably reduce the amount of milk used. I served it with rosemary potatoes. Thanks for a great recipe!

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
So good! Instead of decreasing the amount of vegetable oil in the dressing, I doubled everything else except the oil (I put a lot of dressing on my salads). I also took the advice of others and used pre-made wonton noodles. Delicious!

Tomato Bisque III

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
Absolutely delicious! I used a pinch of ground cinnamon as opposed to the nutmeg (too expensive at my local grocery store!). I also skipped the blender step (I like it a bit chunkier, even if it defeats the purpose of making a bisque :)). I served it with grilled cheese. Will definitely make again :)

Stuffed Peppers

They were great! I didn't need to simmer for as long as it says, and they still came out fine. I agree that a little extra chili powder will help give it a kick :)
