Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
This was my first peach pie. After reading reviews I was really concerned about it being runny. However, I followed recipe with very few changes and turned out great. I put peaches in colander and used lime juice instead of lemon. I dumped peaches into pie crust then mixed dry ingredients and poured it on top of peaches without mixing. Brushed bottom and top crust with egg wash. Followed baking instructions exactly. When the pie was finished I pulled it out and set it on top of stove for about three hours (while we took off to swimming pool). When we came home I cut a small silver and it was perfect! The pie had set up nicely, and because I didn't mix up the dry ingredients it left a semi-crunchy topping just under the crust. Very yummy and so easy.

Lighter Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: May 11, 2014
These are the best pancakes I have made. The batter spreads and rises nicely making a nice fluffy, and not heavy, pancake. I added 1 mashed banana, vanilla, and cinnamon for a little extra flavor. Very nice and will make again.

Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I have made these several times. The last time I accidentally left out the oil, but they still turned out great. Easy recipe that I can get right every time. I add a little almond extract to mine, just to add a little flavor. First one never turns out pretty, but all the rest of them do. Delicious crepes and a new Sunday morning favorite.

Cheese Sauce for Broccoli and Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2014
I needed a quick cheese sauce for my taco salad using the shredded cheese I had on hand, and this recipe did exactly that. I added too much cheese at first making it very stringy, but added extra milk and it made the cheese sauce perfect. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I reduced the brown sugar to 3/4 of a cup and it was perfect. I also added 1 tsp of cinnamon to the batch because I can't imagine apple muffins without some, and omitted the topping because I was just too lazy to mix it together. They were really good.

Raspberry Oat Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2013
Yum! I made the recipe using the instant oatmeal packets (4 of them) because I had ran out of the other. It worked just fine and was yummy. I took a stick of butter and rubbed it all over the glass pan and I had no problem with sticking. I also only baked it for about 15 minutes, maybe a little more. It was sweet, but pairs well with coffee or cold milk. My kids loved it!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2013
Excellent recipe! Very moist. The only changes I made was to substitute 1/2 cup of the flour with 1/4 cup flax meal and 1/4 cup wheat germ, and added 1/2 tsp of vanilla and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon; II also only had two bananas on hand, but it didn't seem to matter. My new banana recipe.

Blackberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
Based on the reviews I made a couple of substitutions. I substituted 1/2 c of the oatmeal for 1/4 c of wheat germ & 1/4 c of flax meal. I also subbed 1c of wheat flour instead for 1 c of all-purpose. Since some of the reviews stated that the mixture was on the thick side I decided to add 1/2 c of orange juice to the batter and I also increased the pumpkin pie spice to 1 tsp. Glad I made these changes. These were definitely yummy and I got about 18 nice sized muffins. A keeper with the changes I made.

Bananas Foster Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
This is a nice twist to twist to monkey bread. Just for something different, I cut the recipe in half, substituted pumpkin spice for the cinnamon, then put into 3 individual ramekin dishes for my kids and baked. The kids thought it was great to have their own individual bowls of monkey bread. Now my kids are small (6), so one ramekin may not be enough for a big kid, but for them, it was perfect.

Monkey Bread with a Twist

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
Awesome recipe! Great recipe to make with your kids. Not only do my girls love shaking the bag, this is like their favorite breakfast. The apples really make the recipe. Try pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon for something just a little bit different. This is really a hit at our house!!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
Really excellent! The changes I made was that I used 6 oz of tomato paste instead of the ketchup, and I didn't have garlic powder so I just chopped up some fresh garlic and threw it in there. Also, I used seasoned salt instead of the onion powder and salt. It turned out really good.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
I have made these muffins several times and they are fantastic! The only thing I do to them is sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar mixture on top of them before I stick them in the oven or sometimes I substitue 1/2 c of the flour for 1/4 flax meal and 1/4 wheat germ. Great muffins!

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This is a great recipe as is, however I was not a fan of the syrup. I make changes to the recipe just to make it healthier for my family. I substitue 1 c. of all pupose flour for: 1/2 c. wheat, 1/4 c. wheat germ, 1/4 c. flax meal. I substitute brown sugar for the white, and apple sauce for the oil. Great recipe that I can change as I see fit!

Orange Parfaits

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Fairly runny when you first put the ingredients together, even after adding the cool whip. However, they do firm up nicely in the fridge. If I had more time I would have let them firm up between layers because the graham cracker crumbs tend to just rise to the top upon adding the next layer. Great flavor. My kids LOVED them.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
This was really tasty. I'm making it for the second time tonight. The only think different that I did was to substitute beefy mushroom soup for the beef broth.

Really enjoyed this but it wasn't tomato enough for me so I added a can of tomato sauce and a small can of tomato paste and this was perfect!

Slow Cooker Manly Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I must admit, I was very surprised by how yummy this was. I was really worried about combining cheddar cheese soup with mushroom soup to make a beef stew. But this was absolutley fantastic. I didn't have onion soup mix, so left that out, Added a can of chicken broth, some salt, pepper, celery seed, onion powder, and thyme (I don't measure, sorry), carrots, and potatoes and it was really tasty and the gravy was perfect. Quick, easy, and ingredients that I have on hand.

YUM, YUM, YUM! I baked these cookies for my first decorating class and oh my goodness did they ever turn out fantastic! Easy to cut out once you roll them out and they are delicious! I took them out of the oven just as I started to see the edges brown and they are just perfect.
