Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
This was a reallly good recipe, albeit quite rich! I used fresh spinach and would highly recommend it. Next time I will be sure to cut down on the butter because the amount written is too much... puddles of melted butter are not very appetizing to me. Thanks for sharing!

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Very good and easy to make; however, I left the honey off as I don't care much for honey. Other than this, I thought it was delicious.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
I really enjoyed this recipe - and I'm not a big cobbler fan! It was a little sweet for my liking, so the second time I made this I cut back on the sugars just a tad. Oh, and fresh peaches make all the difference in the world! Thanks for sharing.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
Very good cream frosting! Not sure what all the fuss is about regarding the difficulty in making this... pretty straight forward. It's definitely a detour from heavily sweetened buttercreams, but a pleasant one.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
Fantastic made-from-scratch strawberry cake! I made cupcakes, but had some leftover batter, so I made a small cake. Sounds weird but my cake was dense, while my cupcakes were light and fluffy. Both were delish, though! I also sifted the flour and then measured again (you'd be surprised at the difference!) and whipped my egg whites and folded them in at the end. I used fresh strawberries and think it made all the difference in the world with the flavoring. This is a keeper! Thanks for sharing. :)

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
For all things good and Holy, you must make this! It's so creamy and delicious. I had no trouble at all spreading/piping mine. The trick is to get it to the consistency that is right for you... remember, the recipes are adaptable! This is KILLER. Thanks for sharing!

Very Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
Very good! I'm not a huge chocolate ice cream fan, but the richness is great. For those concerned about scrambled eggs, I would recommend straining the mixture after it cooks.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
Pretty easy sauce! As is, it only tastes like a '4', but the goods are all there so I'll give it a '5'. I decided to add garlic powder and pepper, but those are just my taste buds. Served with gnocchi and sauteed chicken - delish!

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
This cake is pure lemon delight! I agree with others - replace some of the milk in the cake recipe with lemon juice... will make all the difference in the world! This recipe is SO worth trying... and keeping, as I am!

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
This is a pretty basic and general know-how recipe, which offers great results. I didn't have beer on hand so I replaced it with chicken broth, and then placed all items into my crockpot and cooked on low for 5 hours. Meat was tender and sauce was rich! Served over basmati rice... good!

Monster Cookies VI

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
Hrm. I remember having a family friend bake these (or a version, anyway) for me during my childhood. And while the taste is similar, the appearance is not. Like other reviewers, mine flattened out way too much, leading to fragile cookies. I would highly recommend chilling dough for at least 30 minutes; I'd hate to see how big my cookies would've gotten if I hadn't chilled them first. Not saying this recipe is horrible, I just didn't end up with great results. Better luck to the next baker!

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Uhm... these were ok. This is a very basic concept, but definitely needs some alterations to be a '5'. For this go 'round, I only used 1 egg and 4 tbsp of butter. Next time, I will definitely uncover for the last 10 or 15 minutes... followed as is results in soggy chops. Also, I used pork steaks and could've pulled them out after 35 minutes of baking - 45 minutes was too long. Better luck next time!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
Simple concept, big flavor! I used a pre-packaged peanut butter cookie mix for this and bought the bag of Reese's PB cups with white, milk, and dark chocolate cups. Sent with my husband for his kids at work for the holidays and they were gone in no time flat. Very addicting!

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I'm beginning to love these throw-everything-in-your-kitchen-together sauces! I used chicken tenders and Worcestershire sauce instead of sauce because I don't usually have soy on hand. The last five minutes of so I placed under my broiler. This is really, very good.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
So easy and delicious! I used chicken tenders instead, but this recipe will definitely work with any cut of chicken. Along with others, I baked instead of broiling due to my kitchen not having very good ventilation. And, for easy clean-up, I lined my baking dish with foil. Fast and simple with great flavor!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
These were the stuff! Only recommendation I would give is to sprinkle salt and pepper in between each layer - just not on the very top. I think this will relieve some of the taste 'issue' others have encountered. Will keep around... thanks for sharing!

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
Perfect, easy cookie. On a whim, decided to bake these at 8 pm so I hurried the chilling process along by placing the batter in the freezer for 45 minutes. Baked for 11 minutes and they came out great! Will definitely use this recipe on a frequent basis. Thanks for sharing :)

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
SO good. Think next time, though, I'll cut the sugar down by 1 to 1/2 a cup. Other than that, it was a simple, delicious cake... didn't add any toppings to it. And the crust on top - to die for! Thanks for sharing :)

Toffee Caramel Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Very, very good dessert bar! I agree - the caramel does need to set for about 10 minutes prior to pouring the chocolate on top. Instead of making these in a pan, I used a mini muffin tin. Very tedious, but so cute! The only change I made to this was to omit the shortening from the melted chocolate topping... really no need for it, IMO. Will keep this in regular rotation!

Cream Cheese Corn Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Pretty good recipe, but definitely needs a little sprucing up. I added some fried bacon and onions and added the entire can of green chilis. It was really good the next day. Not sure how often I'll use this, but it's definitely better than regular corn. Thanks!
