I am new to the world of cooking from scratch. I used to think I was a great cook because everything tasted good, but everything was boxed or pre-made for me so I was never really cooking. I am excited to start really branching out and trying new recipes, my BF isn't picky so I'm lucky to have a test subject. We just bought a house and want to make it our own, a home, for me part of that is cooking old/new recipes and filling the home with smells of good food like my parents did.
My cooking triumphs
I am just learning to cook, from scratch, so I am still pretty scared of everything. My mom wanted lasagna for Mother's Day so I made one, from scratch. I was terrified it would come out runny or undercooked. It didn't suck, everyone said it was amazing and I think I have a new specialty. My previous one was steamed Rice. LOL
My cooking tragedies
I tried making Polenta and actually came out with Salenta. I put in WAY too much salt in the beginning and it tasted like a grainy salt lick. Now I am scared of it, maybe someday I'll try again... or just buy the tube.
