Apple Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
I was out of cinnamon so I used ginger instead and they turned out great. 1 tsp in the batter and one in the topping. I'm going to try these as muffins next!

Pumpkin Chip Drops

They were very soft and I ended up calling them "muffin tops" instead of cookies. Everyone loved them.

Quick Peanut Butter Cookies

This is my favorite gluten free cookie! I often add 1 cup of butterscotch chips for an even bigger wow from the kids.

Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Yum! I made them in my mixer and the oatmeal got a bit broken up (my butter could have been softer I guess, but in winter it's hard to do) I loved how they turned out! Crispy, chewy and then fudgy in the middle. I will be making these again!

Chocolate Toffee Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
These are great! Like little candy bars. I was scared to let them cool in the pan before cutting so I gave myself some insurance. The only thing I did differently was cutting them in the pan when they were only half cooled, loosening the sides, removing a slim row from one short side of the pan so I would have an easy place to slip a spatula under the bars (and steal a taste ;-) ) and putting them in the fridge to finish firming up.

Buttermilk Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
I wanted something sweet so I added 1/2 cup sugar and toffee pieces that I found next to the chocolate chips and knew they needed to be baked into something English. I love making biscuits with the melted butter stirred into the cold buttermilk trick and so was happy to find a similar scone recipe. I look forward to making these again and again.

Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I was running around the first time I made these and forgot to add the spices but loved the cookie without them. Now I can't go back to the original recipe. I've tried them rolled in sugar before you cook them and without. Both are good but the sugar really adds to the initial bite. Everyone wants to know what they are when I offer them one but soon come back for more and more. I have had people fight over them and hide them from spouses!! Tammy if it spreads too much for you try chilling overnight and dropping the backing soda.

Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
Everyone loved them! I made them for my son's party and even with everyone going back for seconds I still had a a ton to sent to work with my hubby the next day. I guess the guys were talking today and said it was my one of my best cookies ever. I added 1/2 cups chocolate chips just because I had them to finish up but otherwise followed the original directions perfectly.

Orange Chocolate Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
This were a big hit at church this morning. I used chocolate chips because I needed to make them fast and added an orange glaze made out of concentrated orange juice and powdered sugar as soon as they were done baking to add more orange flavor. As a side note I ended up with 16 muffins instead of 12.

Grandma Gudgel's Black Bottom Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Wow these are great! FWI They were done after 25 min and I only got 20 cupcakes. I used the low-fat cream cheese I had on hand and because I was afraid the substitution would make it too runny and spill all over my oven I mixed it up the day before and let the cream cheese mixture set up over night. Then the next morning I made the chocolate cake part and added the cream cheese with a cookie scoop. It sank down perfectly into the chocolate for a nice creamy center and baked up perfect with no spills. I will be making these again and again.

Crescent Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
I added more extract than recommended and will add even more (1/2 ts) next time. Had some almond sliver left over from something else and they looked like a cup so I threw them in the food processor, ground them up then tossed int he rest of the ingredients. I added a Tablespoon of water to turn it into a workable dough. I really like the old world Christmas cookie flavor. Thank you for posting this.

Cocoa Banana Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
This is my son's favorite treat! I scoop out the "white" half of the mixture and drop it in the pan the add in the cocoa so I only dirty one bowl. I always sprinkle some chocolate chips on top before baking for an extra chocolate kick. BTW it never looks like enough to fill the pan but don't worry it comes out puffed up with a nice most cake texture. I have also added double the cocoa to the whole mixture and made them into chocolate muffins with chips on top again with great success.

Lemon Chiffon Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
Even using bottled lemon juice this was really good. I only lightly stirred in the egg whites and they made a light cake top with a warm lemon pudding on the bottom. I will double the recipe from now on because it give more distinct layers in my casserole dish when there was more batter.
