Wow, this chili was good! It had a mild, gentle heat, so the kids could eat it too. Like some other reviewers, I cooked my own bacon, and then sauteed the veggies in some of the drippings. I also cut up my own chuck roast instead of using ground, and browned that first too. I put everything in a crock pot (mine is 7 quarts, and it was FULL), and cooked on low for 8 hours. I used one can each of kidney, pinto, and black beans for the "chili beans", and one can of "ranch-style beans" for the beans with chili sauce. I also didn't know I was so low on cumin, so I didn't have very much in there, but with all the other flavors going on, I didn't miss it! I will definitely make this one again.
