i'm a 33 yr old mother of a beautifull 3 year old girl and a Very Hyper 5 year old boy. Trying to cook for my son is a night mare...nothing green unless it's frosting, no veggies (I have to sneek them in), etc.
My favorite things to cook
Steaks and seafood (but not fish), brownies, cookies and pastas.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As I was growing up, as Thanksgiving and Christmas approached, my Mamaw would start making HUGE batches of Pecan Pralins. I loved standing next to her and "helping" as she dished out the hot liquid of the candies onto the tinfoiled surfaces of her kitchen and dining room tables, counters, and every flat surface that was free. She mailed containers to family and friends all over the country, and STILL had gallons enough to last through New Years. I can still smell the hot brown sugar and vanilla that were the major ingredients of these wonderfull treats.
My cooking triumphs
I have become very adept at roasting turkeys that my husband says are perfectly moist and flavorful with out very much salt.
My cooking tragedies
In high-school, I once got my mother's cannisters of cornmeal and grits mixed up. The "cornbread" I made that night came out of the oven LOOKING lovely, but weighed about 3 times what it should have and was SO hard, I couldn't cut it with our usual bread knife. Even our horses and the deer that came in our yard would not touch it!
