Birdseed Treats

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Loved it! I used a 9x9 pan, and it was perfect for me. I got 16 bars out of it. Hubby and I ate them ALL that evening. They were so good and so much more healthy, fast, and filling than cookies. I added about 2 T of chia seeds. Totally going to do it again. I can't wait to add variations as the other reviewers have mention. These will be a great hit with the family!

Cream Soda

Even with a lot of milk/half and half, it just didn't taste good.

Italian Cream Soda

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
I used blackberry syrup, and it needed a LOT more half and half and some stevia. Good though.

Homemade Gumdrops

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
They weren't hard to make, but they're not that good either. I think they're too sugary and they're a little gummier than they could be. I'll look for a different recipe.

Applesauce Custard Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
Really good! I partially baked my shell first, and used half Stevia in the Raw and half sugar, doubled the vanilla, and extra cinnamon. I put a dash in the crust with the other dry ing, sprinkled a half tsp or so in the bottom of the shell, then about the same on top, but I LOVE cinnamon and apples. Also make sure you put something around the edges of the shell or it'll burn.

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
My first time making and eating quinoa. I took it to a family gathering. Those who tried it liked it. The dash of lemon really brightens it up. It's a keeper and so simple and quick. The only changes I made, I used chicken base and dry minced onion. :)

Washington Cream Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
"until cake tests done". I left it in that long and ended up with a really tough cake. Next time if it looks done, it is. And make the filling thicker than pudding or it's going to run all over the place. I think with those tweaks it's a keeper. It was a little time consuming but I suspect it will be worth it. Thinking about doing a fudge sauce instead of the cherries one day for a Boston Cream type, or even add chocolate to the cherries for a black forest!

Strawberry/Rhubarb Crumb Pie

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
I've made a lot of pies, but never even had a strawberry-rhubarb pie. I decided to try, and this is a winner! I did change it a little. I used 2 T cornstarch instead of flour, and only 3/4 cup sugar. I didn't measure the rhubarb, 3 medium sized stalks, and most of a 16 oz thing of strawberries. Didn't quite fill up my deep dish, but with the topping, pretty much did. Oh, and I cut in the butter to the topping with a pastry knife.

Corned Beef on Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
My Mom made this a lot growing up, but we added pepper and ate it on open faced toast. She called it Chipped Beef on Toast, Dad said in the military it's called "SOS" for Sh** On a Shingle.... Whatever it's called, it's good! I like to also use a package of ham lunch meat instead of the corned beef. It's great for brunch or breakfast too! : )
