Fresh Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
Too sweet. Didn't like the crunchy sugar on the bottom. Gonna go back to my slightly soggy bottomed, tart rhubarb recipe.

Curried Salmon Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
I'll first admit I used curry powder rather than paste. This recipe is great because it provides plenty of flavor without overwhelming the salmon with a more complex spice treatment. The fish is quite moist. The result of such a simple recipe is a less layered taste than a traditional Indian preparation, so serve this with basmati rice and the Easy Curried Cauliflower from this site, which has more "layers" and quite a kick, and call it a successful dinner. That's what I'll be doing.

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
Not having tandoori masala, I substitute either a curry or mix of my own. This dish is exceptionally fragrant and strikes the perfect balance of garam-masala-sweetness and cayenne-heat. The chicken is tender and the sauce velvety and luxurious. Throwing authenticity to the wind I have made this with a red curry powder and beef as well. Excellent. Did not enjoy the lighter version as much. Thanks to this recipe and (served on other nights) the cauliflower recipe submitted by the same cook, my wife doesn't want to go to Indian restaurants any more. Why drive all that way when this is so good at home?

Easy Curried Cauliflower

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
This is a wonderful dish. Follow the tip to use garbanzo instead of kidney beans. Maybe use a can of fire-roasted tomatoes. Use the cayenne to your personal heat preference - I use less than this recipe calls for because I'm a sweaty wimp! Cook longer for softer cauliflower (and use frozen if it's cheaper). VERY aromatic and tasty.

Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I made my first ever sourdough starter and used this recipe to try it out, substituting whole wheat for half of the all-purpose flour, but think I prefer the recipe as published. Preparation was a breeze and the results FANTASTIC! Better than restaraunt-quality and cheaper than thaw-and-bake. We use this again and again for soft and fragrant dinner rolls or for larger sandwich rolls.
