Maple Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
I baked this recipe this afternoon and used it in avocado and grilled veggie sandwiches for dinner. Fantastic! I substituted 3/4 cup water with 1/2 cup soy milk and 1/4 cup water. I also substituted veg oil with olive oil. I think this made it heavier than the original recipe would have been but it was delicious!

Garlic Lover's Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
This recipe was ok. Three cloves is not nearly enough for the garlic taste to come through in my opinion. If I make this again I would double the amount of garlic. I was also surprised by how long this took to cook despite the fact that I used the recipe to make 2 thin crust pizza's. I wanted to crust to be crispy and ended up cooking the pizza's for almost an hour. The crust still wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. Mind you, I don't have a pizza stone so I made them in a regular pan.

Granny's Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
Just made these and they taste great! Since many reviewers said the cooking instructions were a problem I tried 350 and ended up cooking them for about 45 minutes. At first I tried the cooking time from the one bowl recipe on this site; since this recipe is indentical except that it call for white sugar instead of brown. I checked it at 30 minutes and it was still wet in the middle. In the end I should have taken these out 5-10 minutes sooner. 250 would not have worked, this must be a mistake. I'll definitely try this recipe again.

Tahini-Battered Tofu

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I was intrigued by this concept despite the many negative reviews it received. I decided to give it a try with a few modifications. I used about 6 table spoons tahini instead of 4. I used 2 whole eggs instead of whites only. I used a table spoon of oyster sauce as well as soy. I used up some corriander we had in the fridge. I cut the amount of liquid by half and cut the water with a generous amount of balsamic vinegar. I used white flour since this was what we had on hand. I also added some salt and red chili flakes. I dipped thin slices of extra firm tofu in the batter, leaving some in the bowl. Half way through baking, I poured on the rest of the batter. I baked for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. My partner and I thought this version tasted great.

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This frosting was delicious. I used it on brownies, but I'll definitely try it on cake in future. It would be better on something less sweet.

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I made this on firday and served it as the alternative to cranberry sauce for thanksgiving dinner yesterday. It was fantastic, tasted great with poultry. About about to share the recipe on facebook now at the insistance of my guests . I folowed the recipe pretty closely except that I used 1/2 cup cider vinegar and 1/4 cup white wine vinegar and i used rasins instead of dried cherries.

Roast Turkey With Tasty Chestnut Stuffing

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
The stuffing was very tasty, but too much bread crumbs and not enough other stuff. If i make this again in future i'll definitely add some fresh fruit (apples, pears).

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
This was my first attempt at making a pie and it turned out really well. I cut the recipe in 1/2 and it made 1, 2-crust apple pie. Delicious, I plan to use it for peach next.

Absolutely Perfect Palak Paneer

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
Delicious. I added more sour cream. 1%, seasonings to taste. Oh and since we have a fantastic Indian grocery store in our neighbourhood I substituted ghee for olive oil. I wouldn't try to do this with ricotta, find a grocery store where you can buy paneer if possible.

I made these with whole wheat flour because that's what i had on hand. Not quite as fluffy as white flour pancakes, but still delicious.

Delicious! although roasting the potatoes whole doesn't work very well if they're really big.

Mexican Mole Sauce

I don't think I would have liked this with tomato soup but I used crushed tomatoes instead and it was delicious. I also used 2 1/2 squares of baker's chocolate instead of cocoa powder

Harvey Wallbanger Cake from scratch | King Arthur Flour - Baking Banter

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
I made the amaretto version of this mentioned in the comments and it was delicious. I left it in the oven a bit too long and it was a bit dry. I won't make that mistake when I make this again.

Golden Egg Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Delicious! The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the recipe does not state a loaf size. I set my machine for a 2 lb loaf, medium crust, but once it started to bake I realized that it's easily a 2.5 lb. The ratios are great though, lovely flavour and colour. This makes amazing french toast. Grilled cheese sandwiches too. Bakes beautifully on the 2lb medium crust setting

Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
Yummy. I added dates, nutmeg and cardamom. I used my pastry cutter to blend the butter into the flour. Also, since I'm more used to round scones, I just formed these into balls, pressed them down a bit and backed. I've made these several times now and they've turned out great!
