The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
It was OK. The flavor was pretty good, but the texture was almost...gummy. The dough came out fine, rolled out nicely (needed just a bit more flour) but after they baked and cooled, I just found the texture off-putting. I would almost describe them as 'tough.' They weren't too crispy or overdone, but they weren't very tender. Just disappointed. Especially after all the work to mix, chill, roll, cut, transfer, cool, etc...I'll still frost them as they're for a children's activity, and my kids seem to like them fine. But I will be looking for another recipe to use in the future.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: May 25, 2011
I followed this exactly, and pressed it into a cookie sheet, topped with my favorites, and served it to guests. Everyone loved it! It was super easy to whip up. I highly recommend this recipe! I hope to get a pizza stone soon to try this recipe with. In a cookie sheet, its super easy and simple, but it doesnt get the crispy edges that I like. But thats just the pan I used. Still yummy tho!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Great pancakes! Made 4 good sized pancakes, perfect for my little family. I made these with whole wheat flour, changing nothing else, and they were fantastic! They do get really fluffy the longer you wait, and my favorite was the first 2 I made, because they spread out a little better and weren't so thick. The second 2 I made were much thicker and harder to spread out, but that's just my preference.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
Boo! As I read the reviews, and I read some of the low rated ones, I thought: Well maybe they're just being food snobs about the recipe. But I made this tonight, and it tasted like melted and creamy cream cheese! :( NOT Alfredo sauce at all! I tried to save it with a bit more Parmesan cheese but in the end I got a jar of alfredo sauce out of the pantry. The consistency was fine, but the taste was just not good. It really just didn't work. I'm wondering why this got such a high rating...

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
My hubby and I live with his parents and their 15 year old, and I make dinner a few times a week, so I'm always on the hunt for something easy and yummy. The ONLY changes I made: I cooked the onion with the sausage, and baked the potato 'crust' first for half an hour. I don't know if baking the potatoes really helped all that much. They didn't get crispy like I thought they were going to. I might have cooked them longer if I had time. I just cooked the rest of it anyway. I actually thought I had overcooked it, because all the edges were brown, but it was great. I served it immediately because my father in law was already home from work, and dinner is usually done by then...so I was trying to get it on the table fast. It was WAY too hot to eat right away! After about 10-15 minutes it set up and wasn't as blazing hot. It was SO good. I cut everyone a serving size (according to 12 serving sizes) and my FIL asked...can I have more or are you saving the rest for something? I said "Eat up!" and they did! There were only 2 servings left at the end of dinner, and that was with 5 people! (3 guys, 2 women). The guys ate a ton! I served it with cut apples and grapes. I was going to add some green chiles...but didnt have any. Maybe next time. Good with hot sauce if you like hot sauce on your eggs. Yummy!

Pesto Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
Made my own pesto. Ok, the bowties are the BEST shape for this, I don't know why! But I loved it. The tomato strips were a wonderfully fruity addition. My husband LOVED it, and with the homemade Pesto, it was uber healthy! Will be making this again very soon!

Spinach Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
I;m not a very good cook, so when I had to make something for a church potluck, I was a little nervous to try this new recipe. Instead of pine nuts I toasted some walnuts, which worked beautifully, and only 3 cloves of garlic...and it was SUPER garlic-y. To fix it I doubled the amount of all the ingredients, except the garlic. (So basically I made a double batch with only 3 cloves total! I think I ended up using a bit more olive oil, and adding a little bit of pasta water to it to make it creamier. It was SO good! Definitely worth a try. Start slowly adding the garlic though!

Raw Veggie Picnic Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I LOVE this salad! I made it without bacon, as I'm trying to cut back on meat, and I also cut out green grapes (didn't have em) and the green onion (didn't have em either). I put it in tupperware and ate it everday as a snack or lunch or whenever. It is SOOO good. I love the broccoli with the sweet cranberries and grapes. Very satisfying. Its like a Waldorf Salad without the meat. Delicioso!

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I used this recipe to 'frost' a chocolate bundt cake. I did it in the microwave like others suggested, and it made it nice and syrupy. I put it in a zip top baggie, cut a corner off, and used that to drizzle over the cake. It looked so professional! I topped it all off with mini chocolate chips on top. It looks so decadent!I only wish I had white chocolate chips on hand to make a white chocolate drizzle on top of the semi-sweet. Next time for sure! Oh yes, and the taste is wonderful!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
We are eating less meat, so I omitted the bacon, and just estimated the other ingredients, since my potatoes were kind of small. A splash of milk, a dollop of cream, etc...til I had a nice creamy but still chunky mixture. Anyway, they were delicious, and even the hubby liked them and he is a potato purist. He likes plain buttered mashed potatoes or plain baked potatoes with sour cream. If I even try something like garlic mashed potatoes he freaks! But he loved these! These are a keeper! Especially since potatoes are so inexpensive! Thanks for the recipe!

Broccoli Cheese Soup VII

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I was reluctant to make this, because although I love broccoli cheese soup, my husband has never cared for it, and he said so! He said he would rather have a PBJ sandwich than this soup for dinner tonight! Well, I wanted it, so I whipped it up (So FAST-faster than the half hour it calls for!) and served it with little sourdough rolls that I hollowed out and filled with the soup. Guess who ate more than me?! Thats right...my husband couldn't get enough of the stuff! He said its definitely a keeper! I used real shredded cheddar, reduced fat for the cheese, but did put in a few cubes of velveeta. I'll probably leave that out next time though, as I don't usually have it on hand. The Cheddar was excellent though. I would also recommend draining the broccoli first, then mix the soup together, then add water at the end to get it the consistency you like. Mine was too thick at first, like a cheese sauce, but a cup or 2 of water was all it needed. YUMMM!!!

English Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
I hate to give this recipe such a low rating! It seems like everyone just loved them, but I made 2 batches, the second with about a half cup less flour, and they were so bland and the texture was just awful! Maybe I just did something wrong (both times), but I was so disappointed!!!
