About this Cook
I am Sara. I am a recent college graduate and a stay at home mom. I love to cook. I love to experiment and change things around.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort food. I live in the south and love soul food, but I enjoy making things that are simple yet delicious.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have tried to make my mother's rolls my entire life, and I cannot. We are very into different types of cooking. I would say that we enjoy Italian and Southern cooking the most. That is usually whats on the menu.
My cooking triumphs
I cooked Thanksgiving all by myself in 2007. The turkey was SO good! I wish I could say the same for the cheesecake...=)
My cooking tragedies
I am a horrible baker. I try to make bread but it never comes out right. I also hate making pasta dishes; they are always dry.

Quick Black Forest Cake
Absolutely delish! I didnt have the almond, so i used vanilla. I swear, we tried to save this for dessert.. we really tried lol but everytime i went in the kitchen, someone was cutting a small sliver of it lol. SO GOOD! My husband runs a restaurant and even thought of making a large version to serve there. We used the chocolate glaze you find in the frosting area of the cake aisle on top of the cake. SOOO YUM!

Old Fashioned Strawberry Pie
DELISH! I only used 1 cup of sugar and 3 tablespoons of corn starch, like some people suggested, and O-M-G! Perfect with vanilla ice cream and a tall glass of milk!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Well, I got anxious.. I added the cream before the pretzels were cooled and then added the jello before it was set enough... the cream came up and the jello went down... soooo i have an opposite cake with probably soggy pretzels. Better luck next time, I guess.
