About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Weeds! I am an avid gardener and strongly believe in living simply and in living off the land around us. I am able to fool a lot of people by cooking with plants commonly found in prairies and the woods, the same plants that others might consider menacing. Cooking and baking with "weeds", its such a tasty way to live sustainably off the land... and it's free!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving feasts, Pancake Saturdays, Pre-Race Spaghetti Suppers, BREAD, Gardening, canning, jamming, SWEET CORN!!, and oh soo much more...
My cooking triumphs
Dandelion Bread! Not only did I master this, but everyone loves it!!

Apricot Brown Sugar Ham
This glaze kept the ham nice and moist, next time I will heat a little extra glaze to serve as a gravy for the ham. Will definitely be making this recipe again.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp
Verrrry delicious! This was such a simple/fast recipe to throw together and the result was a great amount of flavor, talk about instant gratification! Right before serving, I mixed 1cup cooked orzo in with the marinade and shrimp. Next time I will add way less oil though, maybe 2T, otherwise wouldn't change a thing.

Rolled Fondant
This is a very easy and no-fuss recipe! I didn't use all of the confectioners' sugar but that was the only modification from the actual recipe. Be careful not to knead for too long as the fondant will begin to crack - just add water a few drops at a time to take care of cracking.
