Hello! Welcome to my Blog!

This is my first entry. I've been a Pro member for quite a few years but never used this feature before. I thought I would share my family's journey to wholesome food.

The Backstory:

I am married to my wonderful husband, R and have two beautiful girls, L & L. We generally eat fairly well but over the last year we have strayed from healthy meals. R loves fast food and when he asks if I want to go out for fast food I can't say no. L (4 years old) eats almost nothing except plain pasta, cucumbers and muffins. L (7 years old) is a great eater (thank goodness) and will eat most things I make. Our meals have been light on vegetables and heavier on higher fat meats.

I am a product developer for a food company that makes pies, cookies and cakes. As part of my job, I need to sample some of these everyday.  I went on weight watchers about 2 years ago and lost 17 lbs. Well, about 15 of that came back over the last year.

So, my goal for 2013 is the get our family back on track. Here are my goals:

1) Make wholesome, well-balanced meals for my family.
2) Get L (4) to eat a better variety of foods.
3) I'm back on weight watchers and want to get back to my last post-ww weight.

I just found the meal planner tool and have set up our meals for the week. It is an amazing tool! I love the shopping list and the way the recipes print out. I hope this will help me be more organized and keep to my goals.

I'll keep you posted of yummy recipes and our progress.

J

Julie, Good luck on your journey! I'm down about 15 from my all time high, but I'm maybe approaching things differently. I am concentrating on my behavior more than the food I am eating. Overall, food quality hasn't been my problem, but timing and quantities have been big problems. I probably consume 1600 calories a day on food I don't really even want that much, and all at night between 8pm and midnight. I wish you and your family the best!

I've got the same problem Doc - the 8pm to midnight monster - never fails to show up - and I've yet to find the right weapon to bop him senseless - lol!

I'm trying to go to bed earlier. It's the only way unless you can buy willpower at the pharmacy!

Indeed get L(4) eating right... My Mom used to take the food away and eat it herself when I refused. After a while, I begged to try the food because she made it so delicious looking. You might try that, "Oh No you can't have that... " Then make it look great, she might want some... Maybe??? I hope, hope, hope.

About Me
I"m a married Mom with 2 young girls. I love to cook at home and I am a product developer for a food company and my passion has always been food!
My favorite things to cook
At home I love to cook wholesome but delicious food. I'm trying to use more fresh food and incorporate more fruits and vegetables into our meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love any holiday where my whole family gets together. Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favourites.
My cooking triumphs
I made a Hello Kitty cake for my daughter's 6th birthday which turned out awesome! My guests thought I bought it at a bakery.
My cooking tragedies
When my hubby and I were first married, I tried to make a rosee sauce out of condensed tomato soup. It was absolutely inedible. He still reminds me of it!
