Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2001
I made this for T-giving and it was a HUGE hit. I had actually made it once before for my boyfriend and I but this time it was so much fun to get all the 'mmmmmm's from a larger crowd! So simple but sooooo delicious!

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2001
I scaled this recipe up quite a bit since I made it for T-giving. I added grape jelly as another reviewer had suggested and I think that was a good idea; It was a bit too hot for most (I think the overpowering nature of the chili sauce may have been due to scaling). I will definitely 'play' with this recipe as the base was quite good!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2001
I only had a cornbread once that I loved and have not been able to find anything close to it. This is my first attempt (and last) at making it myself . It was delicious and oh so good still warm. I was a bit disappointed in it the next day as it had already lost a lot of its moistness even though I wrapped it tight. But this a.m. grilled up a hunk in the frying pan with butter. Mmmm!

Chili I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2001
Yummy and a bit different flavor than traditional chili. I, too, cut back on the sugar to 1/4 cup and will probably cut back even more next time. I used chili peppers with a rating of 3 but next time will go for a 6 or 7. Also, NO beans; my boyfriend and I hate them so I used 1.5 lb. of steak tips and 1 lb. of hamburger. Also will add mushrooms; this is a great base recipe -- I'm looking forward to making it again and playing around it.

Italian Style Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2001
My boyfriend made this and we both really enjoyed it. We did not have diced tomatoes so he cut up 2 fresh tomatoes. Our one comment is it needs onions, which he had meant to do but forgot. We'll definitely be having it again but with lots of onion next time.

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2001
First off: anyone interested in this recipe, do give it a shot regardless of my comments. My boyfriend and I found this inedible! I could not even finish the serving I spooned out for myself; and he (always a 3-4 serving guy) ate his serving and the rest went out. In all fairness to Charlie, I think the problem may have been the tater tots themselves. I bought them the same day I made the recipe but they may have been the 'funky' taste culprit. Someday I may try this again since it sounded like something I'd love.

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2001
This was a huge surprise! My boyfriend picked it out of the cookbook and I was less than thrilled about it but it was delicious. People I've told stick their tongue out and say ew (same as I had) but I've convinced them to TRY it and be sure to use the pineapple. Yummy!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2001
My boyfriend and I LOVED this dish!!! We used 6 vs. 4 potatoes and nearly ate the whole thing. I rated it 4 (just to leave room for something that MAY be better) but my boyfriend was 5+++. WIll definitely be making this again and experimenting with more, different types of cheese and possibly meats, broccoli etc.

Chicken Fried Steak I

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2001
My boyfriend and I rated this dish a "3" and said "okay", "not bad" and "something different". If we do make it again, we will definitely use a LOT more seasoning in the flour and would probably skip the gravy all together. It was definitely easy prep though.

Angel's Yummy Bruschetta

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2001
DEEEElicious! and so easy. I used unsliced scali bread and cut in long wise in half; next time I'll scoop more bread out so the ingredients are "in" the bread. Also, I used mozzarella slices but next time will do shredded as I think it'll melt better and easier.

Cakes In A Cone

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2001
I made and share these with my boyfriend and parents. They all thought they were good and a great idea. I did pretty good as all 24 came out looking right. I did have a bit of a time getting the chips to stay on a rounded top! That was not an easy feat and was messy. And please, can anyone suggest a way to transport them so I don't end up with sprinkles, chocolate all over my car seats?

Alice Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2001
My boyfriend and I loved this and to think I've been accused of not being able to boil water! I had the honey mustard on the side since I don't like it but my boyfriend does but he said he didn't need/want it; it was delicious the way it was. I served it with sauteed mushrooms and egg noodles. I will definitely be making this again and plan on experimenting with different cheeses. Thanks for making me appear to know what I'm doing in the kitchen.
