Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

This was a very quick and easy recipe. And delicious. I don't normally change a recipe and then rate it, as it seems unfair to the original cook. However my changes were minor and due to family preference. I substituted black beans because my daughter doesn't like kidney beans and added a teaspoon of smoked chipotle powder for some extra kick and flavour. I also used fresh garlic. It is our new family go to recipe.

Chai Tea Mix

I made this mix to give as Christmas presents as I had tried it before without adding the extra spices. This time I bought green cardamom pods and got the seeds out myself and added a tsp. allspice and pepper corns that I ground as well. Put everything into the coffee/spice grinder and it only took 5 min. to grind the whole batch down perfectly. I then frothed my own milk by shaking a half full jar of 2% for 30 sec. and then putting it in the microwave for another 30 sec. It was just as good if not better than Starbucks which I love. I might have a hard time giving it away now that I have tried it. Oh well, I can always make another batch.

Light Oat Bread

I have made this recipe since I got my bread machine a few months ago. I make exactly as written and my daycare children love it. I do make mine on the dough cycle and bake it in the oven, but I do that with all my bread because I don't like the hole in the machine bread that the paddle leaves. I wouldn't change a thing, just follow the directions on the recipe and you should be very happy.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

This is just delicious. I made two batches in two days for Christmas gifts and they both turned out perfectly. I always try to follow the recipe the same way it was written and the only thing I changed was that I used frozen red and green peppers instead of spending all the time chopping. I just put them in a fine strainer and let them strain for about 5 minutes in case they were extra juicy. Other than that I used the exact amounts and cooking times and I was only 20 minutes from start to finish. They look beautiful in their bottles and are ready for a pretty topper and into their gift bags.
