About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mom however home is wherever my husband's work takes us ... which is overseas fairly often. As a result of traveling and living in different places, I've had the joy of learning how to cook different types of food. Not to mention how to find things like yeast when I don't speak the language!
My favorite things to cook
anything - well almost anything
My favorite family cooking traditions
good old hot chocolate from chocolate bars and cream. as a family we have it quite often in the evenings during the cold months. thank you French friends for teaching me this wonderful treat!
My cooking triumphs
Making American food in other countries. I consider it a triumph because finding ingredients and substitutions that work is a bit of a challenge. I was able to make the best Chicago-style pizza while living in Turkey. That was huge since the cheese and flour are quite different there.
My cooking tragedies
I have these too often. Usually because I'm chasing toddlers around while trying to cook. =) Recently, while placing a chocolate pie into the oven I actually managed to dump the chocolate pie filling AND crust into a sauce pan on the stove. (Don't ask how!) So I blended it all up (crust included), made a new crust and used the old mixture for the filling. It turned out to be amazing ... a triumph or a tragedy? ???

Sweet Potato Minestrone
I really enjoyed this soup! It was great on a cold night. I kept to the recipe except I pureed the sweet potato. A soup I'm proud to serve my toddlers! Next time I'll cut down on the broth a bit and add more pureed sweet potato for a creamier texture.

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies II
These are very yummy and addictive. I made them quite snack size which was a mistake as my hub kept poppin them in his mouth! They did not last long in our home. We did not add the chocolate chips though I'm sure they would have been a tasty addition. These actually, oddly enough, reminded me of a shortbread or a spritz cookie - even though they had oats and coconut. They were not too sweet at all ... just enough sweetness to keep us snacking on them! 4 out of 5 because they were not extraordinary but rather pleasantly yummy.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker
I'm giving this 5 stars because the end result was fabulous. Tender, sweet, yet savory. Oh and of course EASY! I did not have dry onion soup mix on hand so I created my own (fresh onion, dry onion powder, dry beef broth powder, chili powder, cayenne, turmeric, salt and pepper). I also added a touch of worcestershire sauce.
