Homemade Chicken Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
Excellent easy recipe. I didn't have the cream, added just a touch of milk and a little bit (about a teaspoon) of cornstarch. I also added a few dried parsley flakes and a tiny bit of sage. Just mainly for color and because I was serving it with a sage stuffing. Thanks for a great recipe.

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
This was really a 3 star, but that is my fault for using the cider vinegar suggested by some of the other reviewers. That was the overpowering flavor. But since that was my error, I am giving it 4 starts. Meat was very moist and very easy to shred. I do think next time I will add more smoke flavor, Will definitely try it again with NO vinegar! Thanks for the recipe!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Like others, I changed it a bit, but these are really uyummy and its the pecans that do it. This is how I did it. We are both type 2 diabetics, so I used Splenda brown sugar blend. I floured and browned 2 boneless pork chops, put them in a pie pan, added butter and pecans and apples to the frying pan and cooked until apples were crisp tender. Added cinnamonand ntumeg to the apples while cooking. Then put one teaspoon of brown sugar blend on top of each pork chip and kind of patted it down. Poured apples/nut mixture over the top and sprinkled with one more teaspoon of brown sugar. then I put hte pie pan onto of a rimmed cookie sheet and added frozen sweet potato fries. Baked it all together for 20 minutes at the temp on the sweet potato fry bag (425?). Everything is done at the same time that way. Also you can add more apples or a veggie to make it a really big meal for heartier appetites. But great recipe! Made it twice in the past few weeks, its a keeper!

World's Best Cream Cheese and Pineapple Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
Sorry, this is not what I remembered of a dip I used to love. It was awful, runny, even though I drained the pineapple really well, and a funny taste. I am giving it 3 stars even though after one taste I thew it away, because perhaps it was that it just did not live up to my memories. Very, very off taste to me. since others have reveiwed it so hightly must just be me.

Chicken Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
I loved the zucchini, it was tender but a bit crisp and very flavorful from the stuffing, but its like the stuffin leached the spices into the zucchini, kind of blah. Not something I would make again, but fine for a quick easy dinner on a busy night.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
Exellent, re-warms well, just one suggestion, do not fry the bacon with the onions. Fry the bacon, then remove from pot, (I use lean bacon, so very little fat left), saute onions and garlic, then add bacon back and continue with rest of the recipe. Great recipe, my husbnd loved it and it makes great leftovers.

Sarah's Applesauce

So ggod and so easy. I made it with Splenda instead of sugar because my husband and I are both type 2 diabetics. My husband raved about it!

Fast Chicken Soup Base

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
This is excellent. Makes a rich full bodied soup. I made it with a rotisserie chicken and the skin darkened the soup a little too much for my eye. But the flavor was fantastic, I added a couple cups of chicken broth from a box and that "lightened" the color. Great idea!

Apple Radish BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
I left out the garlic salt, worchestershire and horse radish and they turned out great! 4 lbs is a rack of ribs, I cut them in quarters to fit in the stock pot and it took two large bottles of apple juice to cover them. But we didn't need 3 cups of BBQ sauce. The meat was incredibly tender, the sauce had the nice flavor of the apples as did the meat itself. Great recipe, will use over and over again!

Taco Seasoning

Just perfect! Just the right amount of kick and if you like things spicier, you could easily increase the red pepper flakes or the chili powder slightly. I am going to mix up a big batch and seal it in snack size bags to have on hand.

Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
Used to love this and lost the recipe. Thanks for posting it. The only difference between your recipe and mine was instead of bread cubes, my recipe calls for 2 bags of croutons. Herb and garlic croutons add a nice taste. I also am not fond of mustard, so leave that out. Thanks again! Gonna make it for breakfast this weekend!

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
Really good french onion soup, but there is still something missing to be able to mark it as excellent. However until I figure out what that is, I will use this recipe. Great directions, easy to follow, I just feel like it is missing something from restaurant quality.

A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
Maybe I did something wrong, I did use jalapenos because of earlier reviews. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly and even marianated it for 5 hours. This is not what I remember and was not spicy at all. It was flavorful, but not Jery Chicken which is what I was looking for.

Dried Cherry Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
Excellent recipe! I plan on using the batter with other dried fruit or with a little pumpkin or other spices mixed in the future because it worked so well. The cherries were delicious, plumped nicely while baking. Now the changes, I probably doubled the cherries. And I topped each one with a oatmeal streusel made of the following, a couple of handfuls of oatmeal, handful of flour, handful of brown sugar and a couple tablespoons of butter mixed together until cumbly and then put on top of each muffin. I also made it in muffin top tin as my husband only likes the tops and I baked it 18 minutes since they were thinner that way. Still made 6 muffins, just flatter and crunchier the way he likes them.

Jamie's Minestrone

Excellent minestrone that impressed my Italian husband. A little too many veggies and not enough broth for my taste, so I will probably double the broth and tomarot sauce, but wonderful flavors. I have frozen remainders for a good, quick hot meal later on. Thanks, Jamie!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
Like previous reviewers have said, it is a little thick, but my husband ate every drop and told me "its a keeper", his highest form of praise. I liked it, he loved it. I made all the sauce for 2 breasts in the 13 x 9 pan. Next time I will use a smaller pan and hopefully the sauce will stay a little thinner.

Shrimp Bisque I

I would have given this a 5, but it is different each time you make it. I have found that using clarified butter is important. Lots of work, but usually worth the effort.
