About this Cook
I teach Family and Consumer Science, formerly known as Home Economics. I enjoy reading cookbooks, especially those that are old. I like regional cooking across the US.
My favorite things to cook
depend on my mood and time. When I am working full time, I like quick and easy recipes that have fresh ingredients. I like going into my garden, selecting fresh vegetables or herbs and using them in my recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter family recipes.
My cooking triumphs
I finally mastered making a pie crust! I also love to make up recipes using my fresh garden vegetables and herbs.
My cooking tragedies
is a cooked chocolate frosting in my college cooking class. The frosting was cooked at too high of a temperature...the frosting stuck to the spatula and would not spread! After that I had a clear understanding of the importance of taking your time and using a thermometer.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I
This salad was delicious! I had fresh spinach and strawberries that were both picked the day I made this recipe. We had three people that ate the entire salad, with lots of second and third helpings. The dressing was a bit sweet, so I would recommend cutting down the amount of sugar that you use.

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad
Excellent recipe for a crowd. I love the eye appeal with the variety of colors, and most important is the great taste. I love the sweet flavor. I have made this recipe several times and it is always a hit.

The Best Lemon Bars
This lemon bar recipe is excellent. I had many complements on them. It really makes a difference when you use fresh lemons instead of just the lemon juice.
