Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Really tasty! I was too lazy to reduce the sauce first as another post suggested but I found that it was thick enough as is. My variations included seasoning the meat first with salt, pepper and garlic powder, and I added some garlic powder and ground cloves to the sauce. The roast should be pulled out of the oven at about 150 degrees--I took mine out at 155 and it was a little overdone. I think this sauce would be fantastic on a baked Christmas ham! Great recipe and very easy!

This stuff is fantastic! I can't get enough of it! (Although I would never use canned chicken.)

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Yum! Definitely a keeper! I think this recipe probably stands on it own, but I just never seem to follow a recipe. Like other reviewers I doubled the topping and used brown instead of white sugar. I also added cinnamon to the topping and vanilla to the batter. As for the cream cheese, I decided to follow the recipe rather than cream it in like some other reviewers, and I thought it turned out well. I would think the effect of the cream cheese would be a little lost if you just blended it in completely.

Rich Pasta for the Poor Kitchen

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This is a great dish for when you're broke, feeling lazy, or if nothing else sounds goods, a simple bowl of noodles will usually hit the spot. I simplify it by tossing cooked noodles with butter, garlic powder, and parmesan. This is a dish I would eat when I was pregnant and knew I had to eat something, but couldn't stomach anything else. Try a mix of butter and olive oil for added flavor.

Warm French Onion Dip with Crusty Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
Tasty dip--I served it with french bread but forgot the veggies. A bit salty, and I think it could use some tweaking but I'm not sure how. The same night we had baked potatoes and my husband topped his with some of the dip.

German Baby

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
These are a childhood favorite for me. My Swedish grandmother taught me to make this dish that we call "Dutch Babies." We top ours with lemon juice and dust with powdered sugar. If you divide the recipe into muffin cups, they come out as cute little puffs that are less eggy in the middle and scream, "fill me with fruit!" Yum!

Creamy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
I've made a dip like this for years and I love it! I've never added flavoring but I have made it with strawberry cream cheese in place of plain. There's so many possibilities! It's so yummy I've been tempted to frost a cake with it, but I'm not sure how that would turn out.

Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Awesome, but a little too much pickle. I would also add some bacon to make bacon cheeseburger egg rolls. Mmmm, bacon!

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
This is a mild and tasty icing. I decided to make it for my Christmas gingerbread cookies because when I was a kid, my mom made real gingerbread covered in lemon sauce. It was a perfect addition to my cookies. I imagine it would be really good on lemon flavored shortbread or sugar cookies too. Yum!

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
I had a 12 oz can of tomato paste and rather than use up two cans of sauce to double the recipe, I just used one and added water until I got the consistency I wanted. It worked well and saved me money. I followed the advice of another reviewer and froze about half of it in an ice cube tray to easily reheat later.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
This recipe is awesome. It's not even so much the exact ingredients, but the idea itself. I didn't have the same fruits so I used what I had on hand--including pineapple like the previous post--and it was delicious. I think it would be really fun to make for a party or potluck. It doesn't keep very long so I put the leftovers in crepes the next morning. Now it's got me thinking about other ways I could make homemade chips--like garlic and parmesan. I love that the chips taste just as good as or better than store bought and they're not fried.
