Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I'm only giving this 4 stars as written but with my changes (in our opinion) it is a 5 star dish. I don't add the salt and sugar, I use fresh green beans and instead of the crackers I use crispy onions. The onions and cheese topping make this delicious! Yummy!

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
Very good. Husband loved it. Daughter said she could only eat a small bite due to the heaviness and overwhelming chocolate. Me? I am in between - it is very good but be warned - a tiny slice is best otherwise you may not feel well - it is that heavy and rich. I followed to a T and left in oven with oven off and door ajar for about 45 minutes...this was perfect - and no cracks!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
This was quick and easy and I had all ingredients on hand. Taste was good, not great for us. Had to thicken the sauce with flour, way too runny otherwise.

Easy Beef Wellington

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
This was very tasty but I am giving 4 stars due to the cost of ingredients and the fact that it was time consuming. I followed the directions and really did not change anything other than had to use Marsala wine since I could not find Madeira. I may make again because it was very good but I won't be making often due to the high cost of ingredients and time to prepare.

OREO Mini PHILLY Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
I really wanted to like these, but as written it is just not right. First, the recipe needs a 1/2tsp vanilla. Second, while I liked the idea, the cookie just does not work. After baking you are left with a hard oreo at the bottom of the liner. The oreo is not only still hard but actually separates from the cheesecake. Not good. I will continue to make my mini cheesecakes with a graham crust and some vanilla.

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
Out of 6 reviews so far I guess I am the only one who did not like this at all. First, I don't think this is 'simple' as others have said. There are several steps where the time is off (for instance mine never 'set' at the specified times making this recipe go on for what seemed like forever!) Additionally, the finished product is bitter and horribly heavy with too much chocolate. The top layer of just chocolate and whipping cream is so bitter and heavy it makes one feel sick. The best part of this is the cookie mix on bottom. As one reviewer stated it would be much better just drizzling the top with chocolate as opposed to making a whole layer. Perhaps by doing that, this would have been spared the garbage.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
This is 5 stars in my book with a slight modification - I decreased the nutmeg to a 1/4tsp and added a 1/4tsp of cinnamon. This was easy with simple ingredients and they tasted like mini donuts! My family loved them! Thank you!

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
These did not taste like cheesecake at all! More like a lemon bar! I realized my mistake as soon as I put the zest in! Why would cheesecake have lemon zest in it? I should have picked the zest out - that would have saved these. Had I wanted a lemon dessert I would have made one. If you do not want a STRONG lemon flavor I recommend you stop right here and find another recipe. I will not make again as written. UPDATE: I had to try these again without the lemon. I eliminated the lemon juice and the zest and increased the vanilla extract to 1/2tsp and these were wonderful! With these adjustments they were actually 'mini cheesecakes'!

Muffin Frittatas

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
This recipe needs to state that a silicone muffin pan is a must! If you make these in a standard dark muffin pan you will just have a mess on your hands. I loaded my pan with non stick spray (after reading the reviews) and I still had a mess! Luckily I was not having company for brunch because I would not have been able to serve them. With that said, they are tasty but stick so bad they don't hold shape and are not worth making.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
Only 4 stars because this cake is a little dry for me. Other than it not being as moist as I hoped, it was very good. Nice dark chocolate taste and I love the fact that the ingredient list is simple. Thank you!

Grilled Pork Loin Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
These were tasty and my husband & daughter really liked them...however, as written this is a 4 star in my book due to the ginger. The ginger amount really needs to be decreased unless you love ginger. As written, the ginger overpowers. Next time, I will decrease the ginger. With this change they should be perfect.

Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
5 stars for taste, but 4 for the recipe. The recipe seems to be off (like others have said) with the 4 c. of confectioners sugar. I only used 2 and needed just slightly more cream than stated to get the proper consistency. Made this way, this is delicious. Thank you!

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
These were delicious! I prepared this for lunch with a salad and my husband raved! I followed the recipe just adding a pinch of cayenne (we don't like too spicy) and a pinch of salt - otherwise did not change a thing. Absolutely delicious! Will be making again very soon!
