Aunt Anne's Sesame Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
By far this is the best recipe for sesame cookies! And I've been baking italian cookies for 60 years. The dough is the perfect consistency for rolling in your hands. You won't need the milk, just roll right into the seeds. I used my favorite ''Fiori di Sicilia'' instead of anise extract. It's an unbelieveable combo of citrisy & vanilla flavoring, like nothing you've tried before! It can be purchased on line. There should be a 10 star rating for this recipe!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
I would have rated this higher except....stop the sugar!! And the salt!! All you need to add is a pinch of baking soda to cut the acidity in the tomato sauce. Bake the meatballs in the oven (or fry) to release the fat before adding to the sauce. No, I'm not a health nut, I'm just following what my italian gramma taught me.........let the true tomato taste stand out!

Hot Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
This a very good recipe for italian sausage. We use papa's recipe from the old country-Sicily- which includes grated romano cheese and fresh chopped parsley, no garlic. The oil keeps it moist and makes it so much easier to stuff the casings. Don't forget to fry a test patty to taste and adjust the seasoning if too bland. Making sausage is a lot of work especially if you grind the pork meat yourself. But you'll know exactly what went into it, no surprises i.e. bone chips, grizzle yuk!

My Grandma's Anise Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
I love anything anise! Thanks for the recipe Domenica. I buy so many cookbooks and have so many appliances but I always go right back to my gramma's recipes.....a pinch, a handful, a bunch of....no measuring cups or spoons! Maybe one day soon I'll chuck it all and enjoy the simple pleasures & treasures of a lost art....gramma's cooking!!

Cucidati II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Wonderful recipe! Gramma added a cup of strong black coffee and black pepper 1 tbspn. The black pepper is the ''secret'' ingred every1 asks about as they eat them up! Please try it, you'll know what I mean. ;) Hint: The filling freezes very well. I'm using the other half of last year's big cooked batch-we've got a fig tree. Just dbl wrap in quality plastic bags. Buon Natale a tutti !

Mom's Italian Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
A welcome change from mayo based. I add fresh green beans, cooked crisp tender or canned if I'm short of time. Hubby likes it better warmed, not hot. The ingredients are staples, not exotic-a real go-to recipe. Thanks for submiting this!
