Date Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This is OUTSTANDING. Fun to make with kids, too! I made the recipe as directed except that I didn't have cream on hand, so our topping was made with milk instead. It was delicious! The topping was starting to burn under my broiler after 1 1/2 minutes so watch it carefully. Did I mention how good this is?? It would be great with some spiced whipped cream!

Papa's Vinegar Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
DELICIOUS! I was a little unsure about the 1/4 cup of salt, but I put it in anyway. This chicken was very moist and flavorful...didn't even need salt on it when we ate. We will definitely make it again. One thing to note..the vinegar smell is REALLY strong when you are cooking this. My nose was tingling even at the back of the house!

Fluffy Pancakes with Wheat Germ and Applesauce

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
GREAT PANCAKES! I made the recipe as listed, just with a little salt added, and an extra 1/2 tsp baking powder (I like my pancakes REALLY fluffy!). They were delicious, and very light and fluffy! As a note, we had ours with fresh strawberries and powdered sugar on top and they were fantastic.

King Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
Made this for Epiphany. Followed the directions exactly and it is delicious! We thought the filling was just the right amount. The icing was too watery, but I just added more powdered sugar until the consistency was right. Tasted great.

Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This is SO good! I used frozen strawberries and just chopped them up. I also reduced cinnamon to 1 1/2 tsp based on reviews that it was a little strong. Tastes perfect to me! I also used half whole wheat and half white flour.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
These are awesome muffins. I didn't taste the cream cheese part very much (maybe because I ate two of them just out of the oven...I imagine it will have more flavor after they've sat overnight or a few hours at least!). But they are DELICIOUS! Very moist, and the crunchy topping is perfect. Made them just as the recipe stated and wouldn't change a thing.

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
I am a good cook but have struggled to find a biscuit recipe I like. Finally....THIS IS IT! I made these on the Fourth of July and they were perfect. The only thing I did differently was to make them in the food processor. This is a keeper... :)

Chicken Scarpariello

Delicious! And easy to make. I did read the reviews and added a little flour and cream to the sauce in order to thicken it.

Easy Chocolate Bundt Cake Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Delicious and EASY! I used this glaze on chocolate cupcakes which were filled with vanilla frosting. I just needed a simple topping and this was it. I made it in the microwave and just dipped the cupcakes in the bowl to coat the tops. It dries in a shiny, thin coat. Great for packing up cupcakes, too...no worries about the frosting coming off.

Baked Halibut Sitka

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
I am not a big fish eater but I LOVED this! So dod my husband and my 7yo daughter. Yum!!! I had halibut steaks about 1.25 inches thick. The fish packaging said to cook it at 400 for 10 minutes per inch. So I just dropped the temp down a little to 450 and cooked mine for about 15 minutes. Perfect. Served with french bread and asparagus.
