German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Great!! Very simple and delicious. I got a thumbs up from all my family members and I followed the recipe exactly... I did however sift the cake flour, baking soda and salt together, used butter eggs and milk at room temp and toasted the coconut and pecans. I would have cooked 3- 9 in. Rounds had I paid attention to a previous review, the cake was over flowing! Thanks for the recipe! My husband loves German Chocolate Cake and I cooked this one special for his promotion.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
These were really good, the only thing my husband said was that it reminded him of pinto beans(he's used to them out of the can), i however, can't complain, they were delicious. I had to stop myself from going back for a 3rd bowl. Great as left overs too. I served it with the buttermilk cornbread from this site.

Coconut Poke Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
I asked my mom what her favorite cake was because I try to make everyone a special cake for their birthday. She said, "Coconut." This is the cake I chose to make and I am so glad I did. It was a total hit. My family couldn't sop eating it. I was very reminiscent of a Tres Leche cake, as far as texture and moistness. I added flakes to the batter and halfed the condensed milk, as someone suggested in the reviews. Although I am not a big fan of cocnut, everyone in my family is, so I am sure I'll be making this cake again!

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
I am olny rating this a 4 becuase I took all the advice from the previous reviewers. Substituted some 1 cup cocoa for flour, added more chocolate and accidently made it semi-sweet, 2 eggs instead of 3, and substituted 1/2 cup heavy cream for sour cream. I put a vanilla ice cream layer between the cake layers and crushed de-creamed oreo coated in chocolate syrup and drizzled with hot fudge between ice cream and cakes. I then iced it with the oreo cream frosten from the oreo cake recipe! It was amazing. My family loved it and were amazed at how good it was and very decadent but, this is not for people who do not enjoy rich foods.

my husband loved this. We had no left overs. I added cornstarch like a previous review said to do and I added some broccoli. Delish!
