Classic Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2014
I don't know what type of ovens some of the people used, but my oven cooked it perfectly, I did cut the recipe in half, 1 cup rice, 1 3/4 cup stock, 1/16 cayenne (don't like overly hot food) everything else the same. Came out perfect, not greasy, not burnt, and not dry. Next time will add green onions on top or mix a veggie in to make it more interesting. But understand this is a basic rice recipe-do what you want with it.

Turkey a la King Deluxe

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
Very bland-i had to add sauteed shallots, more salt & pepper, rosemary, and thyme before it had any sort of a taste. Also only added 1/2 can water and used heavy cream instead of half & half. Good base recipe-but has to be amped up.

Juicy Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
good marinade-however anyone that cooks meat knows you don't pierce meat prior to cooking as it makes the meat give off the juices while cooking. And let the meat rest after cooking to allow meat to redistribute the juices contained inside the meat.

Chicken Stir-Fry

blah-needs more of soy, maybe chinese five spice powder. I made this according to directions and added fresh ginger and fresh garlic besides the powdered spices-still very bland. will not make again.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Excellent recipe-I used Yukon Gold potatoes instead of Russet and I think that made a big difference in taste, absorption of the butter etc. I also used 1% milk instead of whole milk. I also topped the potatoes with Panko mixed with parm. Husband went crazy for it.

Authentic German Potato Salad

sounds great-will make, but the photo shows skin on potatoes and the recipe says peel potatoes. I'm going to leave skin on.
