Ukrainian Dill and Garlic Pickles

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
Delicious! We had a bumper crop of cukes this year so I was handing out jars of pickles to whoever came to visit. Remember, these have to be kept in the refrigerator after you jar them and I was running out of room. Everyone loved them. The first batch I made just like the recipe said and we had a few people tell us "too much garlic" I love garlic but I had to agree with them. The second batch I cut the garlic in half, much better. This is definitely a keeper. Thank you for sharing!

Maryland Crab Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
I'm more of a cream of crab kind of girl so I wasn't jumping up and down over this one. My husband liked it. I would probably add potatoes next time.

Coconut Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
I always make a recipe the way it was entered just to be fair on the review. The cake was very good. Next time I would cut back on the sugar and double the coconut extract. I had to cook it five minutes more in order for my knife to come out clean. It was very moist the first day but the second day it seemed a little dry more like coffee cake. I will make this again, it was a big hit with the family.

Crisp Pickled Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
The taste of these dilly beans is fine, but the recipe proportions are all messed up. There is no way 2 1/2 pounds of beans will fit into six 1/2 pint jars. I believe the author meant pint jars (1/2 quart). I used 2 1/2 pounds of beans and doubled everything and put them in pint jars. I also cut the vinegar from 2 1/2C to 2C.

Everybody loved this cookie. I did add 1 Tablespoon of milk at the end of the mixing because I thought it was too thick. Delicious!

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

This is the best filet Mignon recipe. I didn't change a thing and it was a big hit for our Easter dinner. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you!

Ok I'm rating the marinade here. I loved it! Works great on skinless, boneless chicken too.

Jif® Peanut Butter Blossoms

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Very nice cookie. A big hit with the family. It was easy to make. As others said, make sure your kisses are unwrapped and ready to go into the cookie so that they don't crack too badly. I think next time I make these I will omit the part where you roll the dough in the sugar. They seemed a little too sweet to me.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
You really have to work fast once you add the chocolate chips because it hardens up too fast. I had to spread it into the pan not pour it. It didn't look very pretty at all.

Fat Pete's Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Excellent! You don't need to use peanut butter if you want just plan fudge. I used all chocolate chips because I didn't have a candy bar. I also only used one jar of fluff by accident and it still turned out great. If you use peanut butter, don't warm it in the microwave, like some suggest, because it gets way too runny, unless you want to pour a layer of peanut butter on top of the fudge.

Potluck Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
So good and easy. I cut the recipe in half, used chives instead of green onions only because I didn't have onions and I omitted the almonds at my husbands request. Sometimes I make it with chicken broth sometimes with chicken bouillon. It's great either way.

Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
Very nice jam recipe. Make sure you stir it constantly to prevent scorching. I did two batches, I think I burned one batch slightly, it has a slight smokey aftertaste. The second batch turned out great.

Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
This is an excellent biscuit recipe. I made it just the way the recipe said except I gently patted the batter into shape in my hand instead of rolling it out. They are light and fluffy with a great taste. I would like to try them with a little whole wheat flour and butter, instead of shortening, next time. Definitely a keeper.

Filled Apricot Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
These are great cookies. Just like mom used to make. The outside is light and flaky, and if rolled in the powdered sugar they are slightly sweet. I loved the apricot filling. Make sure the dough is cold or else it will turn gooey in your hand. If it turns gooey just put the dough back in the frig for a half hour. They take time to make but it is worth it.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
Okay, I've tried alot of pizza crust recipes and always ended up with something thick and heavy. I was just about to give up, then I found Jay's recipe. Love it! This is as good as the pizza shops. I make the "Exquisite Pizza Sauce" to go with the crust. Excellent.

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
These are quick to make and very good. I cut out the dill the first time I made them only because I didn't have any on hand. We liked them so much that I never tried them with the dill.
