Dominican Style Oatmeal

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
This recipe makes a great bowl of oatmeal! I use a bit less liquid in mine, because I like it a little thicker, but it's really good either way! I like to add a drizzle of honey before serving sometimes, but I also think this would be awesome with raisins or other fruit mixed in.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
We have made this several times now, and it always comes out perfectly! I followed the advice of other reviewers and always use potatoes, carrots, and onions in the bottom instead of the aluminum foil. Prep time is minimal, and the slow cooker does the rest of the work, which I love!

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Made this tonight and it was really good! I did use more bread crumbs than called for, and mixed a little more cheese in with the broccoli and chicken. I do agree that it could use a little more seasoning, and I think I may try cream of chicken soup next time instead. But a great recipe to build on to suit your personal taste!

Parmesan Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
I made these tonight and, with a few modifications, they were really good! I took the suggestions of other reviewers and cut the amount of butter and flour in half, and added some oil to the mix. Also added more Parmesan, along with some garlic and onion powder. Everyone in the family had seconds (and probably would have had more if the pan hadn't been empty!) Thanks for a great starter recipe!

Southwest White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Was planning on making something entirely different for dinner tonight, but of course I forgot to buy one essential ingredient. Came across this recipe and had everything on hand, so I decided to take a chance. Boy am I glad I did! I did spice it up a little bit more to suit our tastes, but all four kids gave it a thumbs up, which is saying a lot around here!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
This recipe was very easy to prepare, and much appreciated on a busy weekday night. However, the taste just wasn't there for us. While it was okay, it really seemed bland and I ended up adding more spices in an attempt to make it more flavorful. It worked for the purpose we needed it for (to feed us all with little prep time) but I doubt I will make this one again.

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I have never been able to make gravy from scratch until I tried this recipe this year! The only problem I had was getting it to thicken up, but I added more flour and some cornstarch, as suggested by other reviewers. But after that, the whole family loved it and it tasted great! Thanks for helping me get over my string of gravy disasters :-)

Pepperoni Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I made these to go with an Italian dish my husband was making, and I think these were actually the best part of the meal!! (not that I'm biased or anything...) Followed the directions exactly, and they came out perfect! Thanks for a great recipe that our family is sure to enjoy many more times!

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
This was a great recipe--easy to make, and had a great flavor! We made it as written, and found the breading on the chicken came out a little soggy. Next time around, just for our own preferences, we will probably pan fry the chicken first, then put the sauce over it when serving. But this was still a great recipe, will definitely make again!!

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
I began by making this recipe as stated, except that I covered it to keep the garlic from burning. For our tastes, it was very bland. I ended up adding more garlic and cheddar cheese and sticking it back under the broiler, after which we thought it was awesome! Good base recipe, just needed a few adjustments for us.

Seasoned Fan Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I'm not entirely sure where I went wrong with this recipe, but it did not turn out for me. I followed the directions exactly, and the potatoes were dry and not quite done at the end of the baking time. Even after adding 10 more minutes, they still weren't close to done. It looked and smelled really good, I really wish they would have turned out!!

Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
So good!! We did end up adding a few things per our family's personal preferences (chopped onion, canned mushrooms, and some extra seasoning) and also added an extra can of cream of mushroom, since it didn't seem like enough. But this was a great recipe, can't wait to eat the leftovers again tomorrow!!

Easy Corn and Crab Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This recipe was great! I did decrease the bacon, add more potatoes, subbed chicken broth for the wine, and used a little less flour. But this recipe was a great starting point and very easy to make. It turned out great. Even my six and four year old ate it, which is saying a lot!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This recipe was good, but not as great as I thought it would be. I think it had a little too much of a tomato flavor for us. The only substitutions we made were chicken broth for the beer and added a little cumin for flavor. For ease of preparation, I give it 5 stars, but for taste, I'd only give it 4.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
I have made this several times and am just getting around to reviewing it. What a great recipe! The only changes I make are to sub half of the white sugar for brown and sometimes the oil with applesauce if I have it on hand. I had never made zucchini bread before trying this recipe, and now I know it's the only recipe I'll be using for it!

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
Made exactly as written, except that I added a few extra seasonings to spice up the chicken, and I only used half of the onion soup mix (we have picky eaters around here!) It came out just perfectly, I actually had to stop myself from eating the plate of it I was supposed to be saving for my husband! Thanks for a great recipe!

Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
Following the advice of other reviewers, I didn't mix the fruit with the cake mix before baking. I ended up with a lot of dry cake mix in the middle. But the taste was absolutely great, just very sweet, so start with small portions!!

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
I don't usually review recipes, but I had to post how great this one was! I followed it almost exactly, with the exception of browning the pork chops before putting them in the oven and replacing one of the cans of golden mushroom with cream of mushroom. The gravy was awesome served over rice. The entire family loved it, which is saying a lot for us!
