Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
I just made this recipe for the first time. I used the same amount of butter/soy but seeing I didn't have green onions, I used 1/4 of a white onion. I followed another reviewer and dredged the pork in egg white & flour (seasoned) before putting into the sauce. As the pork cooked, I used some white wine so the sauce didn't reduce too much. It came out very salty but tasty. I served it with a green salad and brown rice. Next time, I will add ginger to the sauce and an asian style salad. Great easy recipe to toss together in a pinch.

Okinawa Shoyu Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
This recipe which I made exactly the way it is listed here is very good! It didn't get 5 stars because it is really, really sweet! My husband didn't love it, but myself and the teenage boys did. It's very simple and so tasty! I served it with brown rice and broccoli, and every last bit was eaten up. I would highly recommend LOTS of water before & after this dish as it made all of us very thirsty. Thanks so much!

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Really yummy! I cooked it almost the exact same way except for: kept onions in the pan; added chicken broth throughout the cooking; added capers with tomato and covered it for the last 4 minutes to cook the pork. Served with garlic mash although I think with a nice green salad or green vege, this can be a great summer supper! Thanks!

Chicken Tortilla Soup II

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
So easy! I made a few changes: used about 3 T of oil instead of 6 (what?!) I made the chicken first using half the spices and sauteed the onions in the same pan first. Then I followed the recipe. I added more chili and some red pepper flakes because I like spice. Also skipped the tortillas at the beginning and just crushed tortilla chips over the soup at the end. So great! Wish I did have raspberry margaritas with it :) On a personal note: I have a sinus infection and this was the first meal I could taste and it cleared my nose up! (check out my photo as well)

Penne with Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
Great base dish! Loved the simplicity. I made a few changes: used 1 can of diced tomatoes; used chicken stock and tp of sugar instead of wine; added basil and red chili flakes; used pre-cooked shrimp. Took no time at all and was restaurant quality! Would love to think of a low carb version (no starches).

Blue Cheese Coleslaw

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This is a really simple delicious cole slaw! The blue cheese adds a creamy, tangy taste. A few things we changed: no grapes (for diet restrictions and also too sweet for my husband's taste); I halved the recipe and used less mayo and more mustard (again for diet restrictions); didn't have cider vinegar so used white wine vinegar which was fine. Also, instead of using just a cabbage cole slaw, I used a "stir fry" mix which was basically cabbage, carrots and zucchini. Served it with steak and it was absolutely perfect! See picture.

Panzanella Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
LOVE this salad. I make it once a week. I used fresh bread and it turned out ok. I also added green peppers, red peppers and black olives. Keeping it simple is good too as it has some amazing flavors in it. Great with sirloin skewers.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
First meatloaf ever and it was a HUGE hit. I wanted something I could make from what I had around the house, and this was *it!* I didn't measure everything out, sort of eyeballed it and it was still fantastic! I did brown the onions in olive oil with garlic and added at least 1 tb of worsteicher sauce to the meat. Also used hot mustard in the sauce, adding more worsteicher to that. I made about the same amount of sauce and it was great. I will make this again and again! Goes great with steamed cauliflower and baked potatoes. *runs off to eat her leftover meatloaf sandwich for lunch*
