I was born and raised in the south and love southern cooking. I also love attempting gourmet or fancy dishes. I am hooked on shows with Gordan Ramsey and love to see how ordinary people on tv shows can create magnificent dishes. I am great at following recipes, but am just learning to be adventurous with spices and herbs to add my own twist to food. I love Italian food. I love fish, but am intimidated cooking it. Beside, I'm the only one who eats it! My sister is a fantastic cook and is so good with spices and making her own creations. I love to bake, but don't do much with it since we are trying to eat less of that good baked food. I adore the fall and picking apples. I love to make things with apples and the smells of good homemade apple pies and apple creations. I love good meat. I also used to have a hard time cooking it because I was never getting the good quality and it never came out very well. Now I know better and it's all because of Food Network!!!
My favorite things to cook
Apple Pie, anything homie feeling and tasting. I love to grill and of course eat anything that has been grilled. I make a great spaghetti sauce and love pasta meals. I don't suppose I have mastered any one food, so I don't have a particular favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southern Style with the whole family. My favorite is Christmas morning when my mom makes her egg/sausage casserole, rice with white pepper gravy, pineapple casserone and her infamous, Monkey Bread aka, Bumblebee bread. I make a huge fruit salad and we have the table all set up with china and juice and the whole works. It's the only way I ever want to have Christmas morning
My cooking triumphs
Just about anything is a triumph, but I was particularly pleased when I finally made AWESOME baby back ribs!!!!
My cooking tragedies
burning the clam sauce with garlic and it catching fire, and in trying to toss the pan out into the yard I broke the window on the kitchen door. Not such a great meal! :(
