Mom's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
I used 5 tablespoons of melted margarine instead of shortening. I also used 1 cup of buttermilk instead of regular milk because when I use the buttermilk they are more flavorful and fluffier.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I used 3 frozen chicken breasts, Beefy Onion soup mix, and cream of chicken & mushroom soup. I also added a can of drained corn, chives, onion, and garlic. I cooked it all on low for 5 hours. I then shredded the chicken and then I added the fat free cream cheese and let it get hot for 30 minutes. I served it over whole wheat egg noodles.

Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I doubled the cherries, but used canned cherry's in water (Oregon Brand). I used the cherry juice/water to pour on top after everything was added in. I also would use 3/4 cup flour instead of 1 because it is too much of a cakey taste with 1 cup flour. I also baked it for 40 minutes and it was perfectly golden.

Melt In Your Mouth Blueberry Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
Very easy and very good. I made it slightly healthier by using egg subsitute instead of egg yolks! I also used FF milk. It was a very good cake!

Sandy's Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
It was really good, but I did use the tenfoil on it as suggested and I did stir it up at about 20 minutes in to make sure all the noodles cooked. I also added minced onions, garlic, and various other seasonings. I also added mozzarella cheese too.

Orange Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
It was very easy and good! I used whole wheat buttermilk biscuits in a can (for a slightly healthier version). I also used margarine instead of butter and the reduced sugar orang juice. I did use regular sugar for the dipping though, but next time I might use Splenda instead. Overall, WONDERFUL! It tastes like orange blossoms!

Veal Marsala

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
This recipe was easy and very good. I bought very high quality veal cutlets that were already pounded thin. I added Serendipity seasoning to the flour mixture. I also used portabello and button mushrooms. I used more wine than called for as well because I felt that it needed more to it. I served it with whole grain spaghetti noodles that were tossed in a little margarine and olive oil, seasoned with salt and some of the marsala sauce. I also made a mixed arugula salad to accompany the meal.

Devil's Food Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
It was very good and easy to make. I heated up the chocolate and butter in the microwave in a small pyrex bowl. I always do this because it is quciker and easier than using a double boiler. I also used German chocolate cake style icing for it. It was very delicious.

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
I heated it all up in the microwave in a glass bowl (like double boiler bowl) and added 2 tablespoons corn starch. I heated it up for 3 minutes at a time and mixed it up and heated it up more until it became thick. I then put it in the freezer for about 7 minutes so that it would be even thicker to spread on the cake.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
I used 2 cans of black beans instead of the chili beans. I also used a larger can of tomato sauce. I used one can of diced tomatoes and one can of Rotel. I used chicken broth instead of beer. I also put about 5 whole tortilla chips in the bottom of the bowl, topped with half an avocado sliced, then some shredded cheese. After that your pour the soup on top of it. Then I added a dot of sour cream and cilantro. It was very good and filling. I made homemade salsa to go along with it!

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
This recipe was very easy to use. I just made mine a little lower fat! I used a large skillet to cook the cubed steaks in. I also did not use eggs. I used egg substiute instead (works exactly the same, just less fat and calories) and I used a couple table spoons of extra virgin olive oil instead of lard. It all turned out crispy and the gravy was super delicious too!
